JOB TITLE: Learning Specialist
PERMANENT: FULL TIME, Hybrid
LOCATION: Vancouver, Prince George, or Kelowna
SALARY: $75,000 - $95,000

About the role:

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Learning Specialist to design, deliver, and promote engaging learning experiences. This role requires expertise in facilitating scalable virtual instructor-led training (VILT) sessions and in-person leadership programs (ILT), conducting targeted 1-on-1 coaching, and driving digital adoption. The Learning Specialist will also play a key role in marketing learning programs to enhance awareness and participation across the organization. The Learning Specialist reports to the Senior Learning Business Partner – North America and will work collaboratively to adapt and deliver blended solutions that address business needs.

This is a hybrid position. Candidates located in Prince George, Vancouver or Kelowna will be given preference. Travel to our sites will be approximately 40% of the time.

Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Work collaboratively with the People Development COE and HR Business Partners to adapt and deliver blended solutions that address business needs.
  • Coordinate with internal communications and work within available platforms to promote learning programs and resources.
  • Adapt training delivery methods to meet learner needs, ensuring high engagement and retention.
  • Plan, coordinate, and facilitate in-class and virtual development programmes successfully.
  • Conduct 1-on-1 follow-up sessions to reinforce learning, address individual challenges, and support skill development virtually or on-site.
  • Evaluate learning effectiveness.
  • Develop and execute marketing strategies to drive awareness and participation in learning programs.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to advocate for learning initiatives and encourage digital adoption.
  • Identify barriers to digital adoption and develop strategies to address them.
  • Collect feedback from learners to measure program effectiveness and identify areas for improvement.
  • Manage workload and tasks to ensure successful delivery of projects.
  • Support operations leaders and managers by practicing coaching conversations on-site.
  • Take responsibility for continuous improvement, ensuring the quality of all materials produced are to the required standard, reviewed and updated.
  • Run and facilitate regular learning events – Inductions, Insights workshops and front-line management programmes using a variety of media.
  • Update and maintain learning records.
  • Consult with Human Resource Business Partners, business leaders and other key stakeholders to design, develop and deliver blended solutions based on business need to ensure learning requirements are tailored and delivered to the necessary timescales.

Who we’re looking for:
You possess the following Knowledge, skills and experience:

Essential

  • Experienced in adapting, developing, facilitating and evaluating high quality, interactive blended learning solutions.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of the principles of instructional design.
  • Experience creating content and resources for use on multiple devices.
  • Must be capable of working in multi-functional teams representing People Development to the business.
  • Experienced in working with subject matter experts from a broad range of subject areas to write and develop content.
  • Experienced in partnering with business units to recommend and promote a broad range of learning programs.
  • Confident in coaching leaders in a non-digital environment to use digital platforms.
  • Proficient in working with Learning Management Systems.
  • Efficient working within SharePoint.
  • Efficient working with Microsoft Office tools.
  • Passionate about our mission of enabling a zero carbon, low-cost energy future.

Desirable

  • Knowledgeable in performance management frameworks.
  • Experience coaching leaders through behavioral change.
  • Experience facilitating Insight personality assessment training.
  • Experience supporting and instructing colleagues at all levels.
  • Graphic design / content experience.
