WE’RE LOOKING FOR A PILOT
POSITION LOCATION: FORT ERIE, ONTARIO
This position reports directly to the Head of Flight Operations. The Pilot supports all assigned flights as per defined policies and procedures governing all flight operations, operates the helicopter in accordance with OEM’s, Flight Manual, Airbus Helicopters Flight Operation Manual, Transport Canada Regulations, and shall place flight safety as a priority.
Part of the Airbus Helicopters Canada Ltd. (AHCA) Flight Operations team, pilots provide administrative guidance as necessary for the maintenance and support of AHCA aircraft. AHCA Flight Operations team is responsible for conducting post production/maintenance test flying of airframes as well as for performing ground and flight training for customers, or any other duties as assigned.
AHCA Flight Operations supports flight operations across Canada and the USA.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
Maintenance flights, deliveries and demonstrations:
- Conduct maintenance flight tests to ensure compliance with maintenance manuals, flight manuals, safety standards and Transport Canada requirements.
- Support customer deliveries, NHC, MAR and ferry flights, as assigned.
- Perform flight test programs and STC requirements, as assigned.
- Review all relevant documentation, controls, procedures and records.
- Familiarize self with new or modified systems, instrumentation, or other equipment installed on the aircraft.
- Coordinate results of flight with appropriate Quality Assurance, Flight Line, and Flight Operations personnel.
- Assist in the support of the Marketing department for demonstrations of flights and trade shows.
Training:
- Deliver ground school and perform flight training for initial and recurrent pilot courses, that include normal, abnormal, and emergency procedures.
- Assist customers with flight related maintenance and performance questions; provide other pertinent and related information.
- Perform other duties as required related to flight operation training.
Communication/Coordination:
- Attend policy/planning meetings.
- Comply with all applicable Transport Canada regulations, department’s policies and procedures.
- Ensure compliance with the AH FOM and AHI LFOM.
- Advise and make recommendations to the Head of Flight Operations regarding matters of aviation training, safety, operations, and regulations.
- Interface with customers to promote and market training solutions to meet customer expectations and to offer options outside of standard scheduling and course content when possible.
Flight and Operational Safety:
- Prepare pre-flight documentation and reports, document significant occurrences.
- Prepare daily risk assessments as well as flight plans.
- Emphasize and promote safety as foundational in the conduct of all aircraft test operations.
- Report and coordinate all significant safety events or observations to the Head of Flight Operations and/or Aviation Safety Manager as appropriate.
- Ensure all aviation training and safety requirements are met by the Flight Training Team.
- Perform recurrent training as assigned.
MINIMUM JOB REQUIREMENTS
Education:
- College Diploma in Aviation or equivalent experience.
- Transport Canada Commercial Helicopter License (or higher) and IFR Group 4, with valid and unrestricted first class medical.
- FAA Commercial helicopter license (or higher) would be an asset.
- Type rating and experience on EC30 (H125 and H130), H135 and/or H145 would be an asset.
Minimum Experience:
- 2000 hours Flight Time Helicopter, 500 hours as Pilot in Command, 1000 hours in turbine powered helicopters.
- 100 hours IFR.
- Experience in multi engine helicopters.
- Proven training experience (Ground and Flight Training).
- Post maintenance flight test experience.
- At least 100 flight hours within the past 12 months.
Preferred Experience:
- 3000 hours Flight Time Helicopters, 1000 hours as Pilot in Command.
- 500 hours in multi-engine helicopters.
- 400 hours IFR.
- Transport Canada instructor rating.
- Night Vision Goggles experience.
- Experience with new aircraft deliveries and/or OEM training standards.
Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities:
- Experience flying Airbus Helicopters is an asset.
- Extensive knowledge of aircraft, aircraft systems, training, commercial operations, and Transport Canada regulations.
- Ability to travel across North America with short notice.
- Ability to work during weekends, statutory holidays.
- Ability to work in Canada and the USA.
