Position Overview:
A Forklift Operator & EWP Cutter’s main objective is to cut engineered wood products and operate a forklift safely while loading or unloading orders. This position will work at the Engineered Wood Division located at 25284 Fraser Hwy, Aldergrove, BC.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Operating a forklift to inspect, tally & put credits away, sort timber, and check loads.
- Safely cutting engineered wood products with a chainsaw with minimal waste.
- Building orders for either a roll-off drop, forklift unload, or HIAB unload at job sites.
- Build loads with accuracy of all lumber grades.
- Assemble and band loads together to ensure safe handling by other workers.
- Adhere to safe workplace policies and procedures, along with safety standards.
- Responsible for meeting productivity requirements in a safe and efficient manner.
- Stock bins with designated lumber products.
- Other duties as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Principles, theories, and practices of forklift operation. - required.
- Current forklift certification for the worksite – an asset.
- Ability to operate a chainsaw in a safe manner.
- Communicate information and ideas clearly and concisely, both written and verbal.
- Run, maneuver, navigate, and operate forklift within confines of worksite.
- Basic math skills and attention to detail a must.
- Must have a positive attitude and able to handle difficult situations professionally.
Working Conditions:
- Ability to work in all weather conditions outside (dusty, hot, cold, wet, etc.).
- Must have a flexible schedule with the ability to work Monday to Friday 8:00am - 4:30pm and Saturdays as required.
- Must be able to work overtime as required by management.
