YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:
As a member of the corporate communications team, you will develop and implement effective communication plans to support business objectives, manage media relations, oversee corporate philanthropy strategies, and manage crisis communication. You must stay attuned to current and future business imperatives to align external communication strategies with the company's needs. Using a proactive approach, you will manage and adapt the external communications strategy to maintain Agnico Eagle's reputation as a desirable business partner, responsible corporate citizen, and good neighbor, while taking its responsibilities towards shareholders seriously.
- Direct the production of external content, including key messages, Q&As, ads, op-eds, videos, and other external contents and ensure alignment with the Company’s strategy and priorities;
- Direct and coordinate planning of the Company’s participations to external industry events and ensure alignment of event strategy with the Company’s business strategy;
- Direct corporate media inquiries and media relations on topics other than financial and operational performance, and provide guidance and support as needed for region specific inquiries;
- Collaborate closely with Government Relations, Community Relations, Human Resources, Information Technology, Health & Safety, Sustainability, Business Strategy, Corporate Development’s teams and leadership to ensure the external communications strategy supports their objectives through strategic and coherent content and messaging targeted to their respective audience;
- Identify opportunities to enhance the company’s profile as a desired business partner, responsible corporate citizen and a good neighbor that is respectful of its shareholders;
- Coach and support identified spokespersons, including executives and oversee media training as required to ensure efficient responsiveness of the Company to media inquiries, issues or crisis;
- Be part of the corporate crisis management team in the area of communications;
- In collaboration with relevant Subject Matter Experts and departments, develop responsiveness strategies to address or mitigate issues, threats or risks that could potentially impact the Company’s reputation, image or operations;
- Oversee strategic direction, planning, project management and communications for all corporate giving programs to ensure alignment with corporate objectives and priorities, maximize visibility and outcomes for the Company and the communities (or stakeholders), and ensure efficient tracking and reporting mechanisms.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED
- Bachelor degree in communication, journalism, public affairs or any related field. Alternative academic backgrounds with appropriate experience will be considered;
- 10 - 15 + years of experience;
- High level of interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build strong relationships and partnerships with a variety of stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to understand and distil complex business and technical information into clear, concise documents targeted at diverse audiences.
- Experience presenting complex issues to management.
- Maturity, sound judgement, diplomacy and the ability to liaise confidently and effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience leading a team.
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written and presentation) in English and demonstrated editorial skills.
- Attention to detail and strong organizational, planning and project management skills.
- Demonstrated ability to prioritize and work under tight deadlines on multiple initiatives.
- Resourcefulness and creative problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work effectively with virtual teams.
Your Work Schedule:
- Schedule:40 hours per week, Monday to Friday with the ability to work within the teleworking policy from our offices in Toronto, ON. Occasional visits to site may also be required.
