Responsibilities
Our newest opportunity is for a talented Senior Energy Engineer to join our award-winning team based in Dubai, UAE.
This role is responsible for energy auditing, GHG emissions calculations and sustainability strategy development and will be well versed in international frameworks such as IPCC, GHG Protocol, ISO 14064, ISO 50001, SBTi, TCFD, and Net Zero strategies.
We envisage success in this role to include:
Energy Audit Project Management:
- Lead and manage ASHRAE Level 1 (Walkthrough) and Level 2/3 (Detailed/ IGA) energy audits for multi-asset portfolios across diverse building types (residential, retail, commercial, hospitality)
- Establish robust utility baselines through comprehensive data collection, validation, and analysis of 3+ years of historical consumption data (electricity, water, district cooling)
- Perform complex GHG emissions calculations, verification, and reporting based on IPCC, GHG Protocol, ISO 14064-1 & 2, and SBTi.
- Lead and support organizations in setting and registering Science-Based Targets (SBTs).
- Develop and execute detailed project plans, including mobilization, stakeholder coordination, field audit schedules, and quality assurance frameworks
- Coordinate site access, facility walkthroughs, and data collection activities across multiple locations simultaneously
- Oversee energy end-use breakdown analysis and benchmarking against industry standards and best practices
Technical Assessment & Analysis:
- Conduct comprehensive field visits documenting existing building systems, HVAC equipment, lighting, controls, building envelope, and operational practices
- Installing and managing measurement instrumentation and analyzing logged data as appropriate
- Perform detailed HVAC system assessments, including chillers, air handling units, pumps, cooling towers, controls, and distribution systems
- Analyze building automation system (BAS) data, operational schedules, and control sequences to identify optimization opportunities
- Evaluate renewable energy potential, including solar PV feasibility, site assessments, and production estimates
- Conduct thermal imaging surveys and identify building envelope deficiencies affecting energy performance
Communication & Business Development:
- Prepare high-quality reports, proposals, and presentations tailored to client needs.
- Deliver engaging presentations and workshops to clients and stakeholders.
- Support business development efforts by identifying opportunities, writing proposals, and contributing to client engagement strategies.
ECM Development & Financial Analysis:
- Identify, develop, and prioritize Energy Conservation Measures (ECMs) based on technical feasibility, energy savings potential, and financial viability
- Prepare detailed ECM cost estimates, energy savings calculations, and financial analysis, including simple payback, NPV, IRR, and lifecycle cost analysis
- Develop optimized ECM packages and implementation scenarios, balancing capital investment, savings potential, and client objectives
- Create Marginal Abatement Cost Curves (MACC) to support strategic decision-making and prioritization
- Conduct sensitivity analyses considering variables such as utility rates, discount rates, equipment life, and operational factors
- Develop multi-year implementation roadmaps with phased approach recommendations
ECM Development & Financial Analysis:
- Prepare comprehensive individual facility audit reports documenting baseline performance, findings, ECM recommendations, and financial analysis
- Develop executive summary reports consolidating portfolio-level findings, savings potential, and strategic recommendations for senior management
- Create energy audit matrices, ECM comparison tables, and benchmarking reports
- Prepare preliminary energy assessment (PEA) reports establishing baseline conditions and identifying quick-win opportunities
- Develop tender documentation packages including technical specifications, performance criteria, scope of work, bidding instructions, and prequalification criteria for subsequent detailed studies and implementation phases
- Deliver engaging presentations to clients, stakeholders, and management teams communicating findings and recommendations
Documentation & Reporting:
- Prepare comprehensive individual facility audit reports documenting baseline performance, findings, ECM recommendations, and financial analysis
- Develop executive summary reports consolidating portfolio-level findings, savings potential, and strategic recommendations for senior management
- Create energy audit matrices, ECM comparison tables, and benchmarking reports
- Prepare preliminary energy assessment (PEA) reports establishing baseline conditions and identifying quick-win opportunities
- Develop tender documentation packages including technical specifications, performance criteria, scope of work, bidding instructions, and prequalification criteria for subsequent detailed studies and implementation phases
- Deliver engaging presentations to clients, stakeholders, and management teams communicating findings and recommendations
Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management:
- Lead multidisciplinary project teams including energy engineers, mechanical engineers, data analysts, and technical specialists
- Mentor junior staff and provide technical guidance throughout project delivery
- Coordinate with facility management teams, operations staff, and external contractors
- Manage client relationships and serve as primary technical point of contact
- Facilitate stakeholder workshops, kickoff meetings, and project review sessions
- Ensure quality control and adherence to ASHRAE guidelines and industry best practices
- Integrate effectively with multidisciplinary teams to deliver complex energy performance projects. Support
Qualifications
To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include 8+ years' experience in energy auditing, building performance analysis, or energy management consulting, or a related field, partnered with a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Energy Management, Building Science or a related field. CEM (Certified Energy Manager), CMVP (Certified Measurement & Verification Professional), LEED AP, or PMP (Project Management Professional).
- Proven track record managing ASHRAE Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3 energy audits for portfolios of 15+ facilities across multiple building types
- Strong expertise in building HVAC systems, controls, lighting, and building envelope technologies
- Advanced Excel skills for data analysis, energy calculations, and financial modeling
- Experience developing detailed ECM cost estimates, savings calculations, and financial feasibility analyses
- Strong understanding of energy performance contracting (EPC) frameworks and tender requirements
- Knowledge of renewable energy technologies, particularly solar PV systems and feasibility assessment
- Experience with building automation systems (BAS), utility data analysis, and interval meter data processing
- Excellent project management skills with demonstrated ability to manage timelines, budgets, and multiple concurrent projects
- Strong technical writing skills and ability to prepare comprehensive audit reports and documentation
- Excellent presentation and communication skills in English; Arabic language skills are advantageous
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail
- Proficiency in AutoCAD or Revit for reviewing building drawings and developing ECM concepts
- Certified Energy Manager (CEM) or Certified Energy Auditor (CEA) certification
- Certified Measurement & Verification Professional (CMVP) or equivalent
- LEED AP, WELL AP, or similar green building credentials advantageous
- Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent certification beneficial
- Prior work managing projects for government entities, real estate developers, or facility management companies
- Experience with Energy Performance Contracting (EPC) project development and procurement
- Demonstrated success in delivering energy audit projects
