Christian Brothers’ College Boksburg is a Premier Independent Boys’ Catholic School on the East Rand of Johannesburg and is seeking an individual with energy, a strong work ethic, integrity, and vision for the position of Interim Librarian, starting in January 2025.

• The staff member will report directly to the Principal.

Qualifications:

• Relevant qualifications in library science, education, or a related field.
• Previous experience as a librarian or in an educational setting is preferred.

Requirements:

• Proficiency in managing library operations, including cataloguing and shelving.
• A passion for promoting literacy and fostering a love for reading.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with a passion for working with learners and staff.
• Experience working with library software and digital tools is an advantage.
• A commitment to the Catholic Ethos and values of CBC Boksburg, with an appreciation for its traditions.
• Ability to foster and sustain positive relationships with all stakeholders.
• A commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
• Flexibility and adaptability to take on additional tasks or responsibilities as assigned by the Principal.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage the daily operations of the school library and its collections.
• Plan and implement literacy programmes and events, such as book clubs and reading challenges.
• Assist learners and staff in accessing and utilising library resources effectively.
• Create a welcoming and engaging library environment that fosters curiosity and learning.
• Promote the use of technology in library services and support research skills.
• Uphold CBC Boksburg’s ethos and values, as an Independent Catholic School, in all interactions with the school community.
• Support the school leadership team by undertaking additional duties as required, demonstrating flexibility and a collaborative spirit.
• Strive to make a difference in the lives of young learners and contribute to their academic success.
