Job description
The Opportunity

This is not a typical finance role. As Finance Manager at the Singapore FinTech Association (SFA), you will sit at the crossroads of Singapore’s most exciting industry — with direct access to the decision‑makers shaping the future of financial services across Asia.

You will work alongside regulators, bank executives, venture capitalists, and founders on a daily basis. Our members include the Monetary Authority of Singapore, major global banks, and over 1,000 FinTech companies. The relationships you build here and the industry knowledge you gain will enrich your professional life in ways that a private‑sector finance role simply cannot match.

We are upfront: as a non‑profit, our salaries sit below market rates for equivalent corporate positions. But our team members consistently tell us the same thing — the access, the learning, and the network make this one of the most rewarding roles they’ve held.

Role Overview

We are looking for a Finance Manager to own SFA’s financial operations and lead a small operations team. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, Funding, Operation & Governance with dotted reporting line to the General Manager, you will be responsible for P&L management, government grant administration (primarily MAS and Enterprise Singapore grants), budgeting, compliance, and serving as the finance advisor to our programme and partnerships teams.

This is a hands‑on leadership role. You will build processes, mentor your team, and work cross‑functionally with every part of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities

P&L and Financial Management

  • Own and manage the full Profit & Loss statement, ensuring accuracy in revenue recognition, cost allocation, and monthly close processes.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports and present findings to the Senior Management and Executive Committee.
  • Develop and manage the annual budget, providing variance analysis and forward‑looking forecasts to support strategic planning.
  • Monitor cash flow, working capital, and overall financial health, flagging risks and opportunities proactively.
  • Recommend active cash management opportunity to optimise interest earnings from cash and reserve funds.
  • Oversee accounts payable and receivable, ensuring timely invoicing, collections, and vendor payments.

Government Grant Administration

  • Manage the end‑to‑end lifecycle of government grants from MAS, Enterprise Singapore (ESG), and other agencies — including application, budgeting, disbursement tracking, milestone reporting, and final claim submissions.
  • Ensure full compliance with grant conditions and reporting requirements; maintain meticulous records and audit trails.
  • Serve as the primary liaison with government agencies on grant‑related matters.
  • Identify new grant opportunities and advise leadership on strategic applications aligned with SFA’s objectives.

Team Leadership

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small operations team, setting clear objectives and providing regular feedback.
  • Allocate resources and manage workload across the team to ensure efficient operations and timely deliverables.
  • Foster a collaborative, high‑performance team culture aligned with SFA’s values.

Financial Advisory and Compliance

  • Act as the internal subject‑matter expert on finance, advising programme leads and project managers on budgeting, cost control, and financial structuring.
  • Ensure compliance with Singapore’s regulatory and statutory requirements for non‑profit entities, including tax filings, annual returns, and audit processes.
  • Liaise with external auditors, tax advisors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Develop and maintain internal financial policies, controls, and standard operating procedures.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Partner with internal teams to provide financial insights supporting programme design, events, and membership growth.
  • Support sponsorship and partnership discussions with financial modelling, pricing, and deal structuring.
  • Represent SFA’s finance function in meetings with government agencies, sponsors, and strategic partners.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Professional qualification (e.g. CA, ACCA, CPA) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in finance or accounting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or team lead capacity and 2 years as audit senior in public accounting preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience managing Singapore government grants (e.g. from MAS, Enterprise Singapore, IMDA, or similar agencies).
  • Strong knowledge of Singapore Financial Reporting Standards (SFRS), non‑profit accounting principles, and regulatory requirements.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g. Xero) and strong command of Microsoft Excel (e.g. pivot, financial modelling).
  • Excellent analytical, organisational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a lean, fast‑paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
