In pursuit of sustainable growth and profitability in the digital and green sectors, the Global Marketing & Sales transformation team, established in 2022, seeks to position Hitachi as a trusted partner for its customers.
What you’ll be doing
Reporting to the Global Head of Sales and Marketing Communication, this role will collaborate with Hitachi Group’s segment development leads, as well as group account, customer experience, marketing communication and business unit commercial and insight teams, to deliver actionable insight on Hitachi’s focus growth markets.
Your job will be to design, implement, and oversee the processes and tools required to drive cross-organization understanding of market potential, with the goal of creating a customer-centric culture in the prioritization of effort, enhanced decision making and relevant, impactful customer interaction via our marketing and sales channels.
Must combine market research and insight expertise with a solid understanding of the business problems our internal and external customers are trying to solve.
Competitive & market intelligence strategy– Together with the segment lead, identify all key data sources to keep Hitachi management and commercial teams informed of key and emerging global and regional market trends, challenges, and regulatory developments. Share competing and emerging alternatives, competitor activities and their impacts on our competitive differentiation.
Elevating market intelligence by streamlining processes, developing scalable solutions, and fostering collaboration among Hitachi's market intelligence practitioners.
Insight sharing and culture shaping– Create a suite of best-in-class materials, platforms and communication process to support constant insight sharing and regular focussed reports for commercial teams and management, customized by audience and aligned with key segments and growth priorities. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing communication, strategy and account management, to integrate research findings into business strategies and drive customer-centric thinking.
Market research project management: Lead the development of market research strategy and the design and implementation of research studies. Overseeing the execution of research projects from start to finish. Communicating insights and recommendations to stakeholders
Community building / internal awareness – support the segment development lead in the build-up and upkeep of their internal communities of segment champions.
BU & regional market insight alignment - engage Hitachi Group businesses to form an insight community to drive best practice, maximise ROI and minimize cost/effort duplication.
Functional best practice: manage the market research budget and ensure projects are delivered on time and within financial constraints. Build and maintaining relationships with external research agencies and vendors. Ensure research practices adhere to industry standards and ethics
What you bring to the team

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills and background:
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing or related field preferred with 8+ years of experience
Strong expertise in designing, leading, and performing market research
Proven experience in launching and managing successful insight projects and platforms.
Strong analytical abilities to interpret market data and inform strategic decisions, including the experience using statistical and probability principles to enable data driven decision making.
Ability to work independently in an ambiguous and changing environments while successfully delivering on required outcomes
Strong communication skills in developing high-impact briefing material to craft and articulate compelling, customer-centric recommendations.
Strong team ethos and ability to influence and inspire within as well as outside a large organization.
Experienced in the usage of analytics tools, such as Excel, Tableau or PowerBI
Cultural sensitivity and openness to work in an international business environment across all time zones.
Excellent English level. Japanese proficiency a plus.
