ESG Lead

We are a market-leading engineering company based near Cambridge, seeking an experienced ESG Lead to take a strategic role in driving and supporting the development and execution of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives across Europe. Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic ESG Leadership: Lead and support the development and execution of ESG strategies across Europe, ensuring alignment with the global corporate strategy and sustainability objectives.
- ESG Framework Development: Oversee the implementation of an ESG framework across all European operations. Work closely with teams and stakeholders both within the EU and globally to ensure consistent application of ESG policies, processes, and best practices.
- Reporting and Data Management: Take ownership of ESG data management, ensuring accurate collection, quality control, evaluation, audit, and disclosure. Lead the creation of external ESG reports in line with required reporting scopes, and produce internal reports, presentations, and dashboards for stakeholders at various levels.
- Digitalisation of ESG: Manage ESG technology tools and collaborate with the ERP system to identify opportunities for streamlining and automating ESG processes, improving efficiency and enhancing overall effectiveness.
- Analysis and Innovation: Analyse ESG performance data and propose recommendations for continuous improvement, driving innovation in environmental performance, social responsibility, and governance practices.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with both internal and external stakeholders across EU and global entities, ensuring transparency and addressing ESG-related risks and opportunities.
- ESG Initiatives and Projects: Support the delivery of regional ESG projects, ensuring ESG targets are met and that initiatives are managed effectively across the business.
- Local Team Support: Provide guidance and support to local ESG teams across Europe, including training, knowledge sharing, and development opportunities.
- ESG Culture Promotion: Foster a culture of sustainability across European entities and globally, encouraging engagement and active participation from all employees in driving ESG initiatives.
Essential Skills and Experience:
- Proven experience in an ESG or sustainability-focused role, ideally within a large, multi-national engineering or manufacturing environment.
- Strong understanding of ESG strategies, frameworks, and reporting standards (e.g., GRI, CDP, TCFD).
- Experience managing complex projects and collaborating with multiple stakeholders across regions and functions.
- Expertise in data management, analysis, and reporting, with a focus on accuracy and quality control.
- Familiarity with ESG digital tools and technology systems, including ERP and other relevant software.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to drive change and innovation, identifying areas for continuous improvement and developing creative solutions to ESG challenges.
- Passion for sustainability and a proven track record in driving environmental and social impact within a corporate context.
