Reports to: Café Supervisor and Chef de Cuisine

The Café Prep Cook works within our Café Team at Moraine Lake Lodge (MLL) to produce and deliver finely crafted grab-and-go menu offerings for the Café at MLL. Main duties include prepping and assembling café luncheon items, cooking soups, and baking pastries. This position requires an early morning start time to prepare for the hundreds of guests who visit the Café every day and requires some front of house duties.

We offer subsidized on-site housing for all team members (private rooms for senior positions and shared for entry level positions).

1. Prepare grab and go items for the Café including soup, café menu items and baked goods.
2. Prepare menu items as per recipes.
3. Prepare large amounts of menu items using effective bulk prepping techniques.
4. Abide by all policy & procedures as outlined in the Kitchen manual.
5. Follows presentation specifications as set by the Café Supervisor & Executive Chef.
6. Ensure the quality of food is outstanding every time and items are produced quickly and efficiently with pride and attention to detail.
7. Control waste and spoilage.
8. Perform all opening and closing assignments as instructed.
9. Assist with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, workstation, walk-in cooler, and all storage areas.
10. Participate and assist in daily shipping, receiving, distribution, inventory and control over kitchen supplies.
11. Stewarding duties as required including stocking and cleaning the kitchen.
12. Ensure only the highest quality products are served.
13. Perform additional responsibilities, as requested by the Café Supervisor.

1. Greet guests and contribute to a positive experience by connecting with our guests.
2. Complete food and beverage orders in the Café.
3. Ensure all transactions are completed in an accurate and timely manner.
4. Handle, prepare and present menu items following Food Safe practices and established company guidelines.
5. Operate all food and beverage equipment in a safe manner.
6. Maintain sanitary conditions by following Food Safe & company guidelines.
7. Present orders to guests in a professional manner, ensuring presentation reflects established guidelines.
8. Maintain general cleanliness of the café.
9. Replenish stock, maintain cleanliness of food venues, guest seating areas and food storage areas.
10. Communicate with Team Leader and Food and Beverage Supervisor regarding stock levels.
11. Follow opening, mid or closing procedures, depending on shift.
12. Operate cafe POS system and perform flawless cash-out upon closing.

1. Ensure proper FOODSAFE procedures are followed.
2. Follow HACCP requirements.
3. Develop understanding and knowledge of proper use and maintenance of all equipment in kitchen.
4. Maintain a clean work area.
5. Follow all procedures outlined in the Health & Safety Manual and Emergency manual.
6. Follow work safety and WHMIS guidelines. Actively promote a safe work environment.

1. Must be 100% guest service oriented, have excellent people skills with a positive & upbeat personality.
2. Minimum 1 year culinary experience.
3. Must have experience working with commercial kitchen equipment.
4. Food Safe certificate, with basic food handling, knife handling and preparation knowledge.
5. Highly collaborative; ability to work in a team-oriented environment.
6. First Aid and CPR certified, an asset.
7. Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 50 lbs.) and safely operate kitchen equipment.

1. Able to work a variety of shifts including evenings, weekends and holidays, to meet the needs of the business.
2. While performing the duties of this position, Team Members are required to be on their feet for extended periods of time.
3. Ability to work outside with varying weather conditions (e.g., Extreme Heat, Extreme Cold, Rain, Snow).
4. Occasionally required to lift and carry up to 50lbs.
5. Occasionally required to lift and climb a step ladder or step stool.

Wage: $22-25 per hour.
