Job summary
A leading industrial services provider is seeking an Assistant Resident Engineer for their project site in the United Arab Emirates. This role involves overseeing mechanical construction activities, supervising tank fabrication and welding, and ensuring compliance with project schedules. Candidates should have a Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with at least 8 years of experience in site supervision, particularly in tank welding. Qualifications
- Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical site supervision within engineering consultancy projects.
- Proven experience in tank welding (storage tanks, pressure tanks, or similar).
- Familiarity with international codes and standards (API, ASME, AWS).

Job Purpose
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Resident Engineer in overseeing mechanical construction activities on-site.
- Supervise tank fabrication, welding, erection, and installation works.
- Review and monitor Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS), Procedure Qualification Records (PQR), and Welder Qualification Records (WQR).
- Monitor contractor progress, workmanship, and adherence to project schedules.
- Identify non-conformances and assist in implementing corrective actions.
- Prepare site reports, inspection records, and technical documentation.
- Liaise with contractors, inspectors, and the client’s project team.
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum 8 years of experience in mechanical site supervision within engineering consultancy projects.
- Proven experience in tank welding (storage tanks, pressure tanks, or similar) and pumpstations.
- Strong knowledge of welding standards, inspection methods, and QA/QC procedures.
- Familiarity with international codes and standards (API , API , ASME, AWS preferred).
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical drawings and specifications.
Preferred Skills
- Welding inspection certification (CSWIP / AWS / equivalent) – an advantage.
- Experience working on oil & gas, water, or industrial projects.
- Strong coordination and problem-solving abilities.
