Job Purpose:
The Warehouse Manager is responsible for overseeing the storage distribution and overall inventory management within the warehouse. This role ensures that products are received, stored, and dispatched efficiently while maintaining a high standard of safety and productivity. The Warehouse Manager will lead a team of warehouse staff and work closely with procurement, logistics, and retail store managers to optimize warehouse operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Warehouse Operations:
- Manage daily warehouse activities including receiving, storing, packing, and dispatching goods.
- Ensure timely and accurate order fulfillment, coordinating with retail stores to meet their stock requirements.
- Implement and maintain inventory control procedures, minimizing discrepancies and ensuring accurate stock levels.
- Oversee the proper use of warehouse equipment, ensuring maintenance and safety checks are regularly conducted.
Team Management:
- Supervise and provide leadership to warehouse staff including hiring, training, and performance evaluation.
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure team members adhere to company policies and procedures.
- Monitor staff productivity and provide coaching and feedback to improve performance.
Inventory Management:
- Monitor stock levels and ensure replenishment processes are followed.
- Conduct regular stock takes and cycle counts to maintain inventory accuracy.
- Manage stock discrepancies and oversee product returns or defective goods handling.
Health and Safety:
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe working environment for all employees.
- Implement and enforce warehouse safety procedures to prevent accidents and injuries.
- Oversee security operations to protect the warehouse from theft and other risks.
Process Improvement:
- Identify areas for improvement within warehouse operations and implement cost-effective solutions.
- Use warehouse management systems (WMS) to optimize space utilization, stock control, and picking/packing efficiency.
- Collaborate with other departments such as logistics and procurement to streamline the supply chain process.
Reporting:
- Provide regular reports on warehouse performance, stock levels, and productivity to senior management.
- Analyze warehouse data and metrics to identify trends and areas for improvement.
Key Requirements:
- Education:
- Bachelor's degree in logistics, supply chain management, business administration, or a related field (preferred but not always required based on experience).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10-12 years of experience in warehouse management, preferably in the retail industry.
- Proven experience in leading and managing a team in a fast-paced warehouse environment.
- Experience with warehouse management systems (WMS) and inventory control software.
