Job Purpose:
Responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of a nursing unit or department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care, maintaining a positive and productive work environment, and ensuring the unit runs efficiently and effectively.
Roles & Responsibilities:
Patient Care and Quality Assurance
- Oversee the delivery of patient care to ensure it meets established standards and adheres to evidence-based practices.
- Monitor patient outcomes and implement improvements as needed.
- Handle patient and family concerns or complaints about nursing care, resolving issues promptly and effectively and ensuring patient satisfaction.
- Educate patients and their families about care plans, treatment options, and health management to ensure they have the information to make informed decisions.
- Collaborate with healthcare teams to develop, implement, and evaluate individualized patient care plans, ensuring that care plans are patient-centered and reflect current best practices.
- Conduct regular audits and quality assessments to maintain high standards of care and ensure nursing practices comply with organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and accreditation standards.
Operational and Resource Management
- Oversee the daily operations of the nursing unit, including patient admissions, transfers, and discharges.
- Assist in managing the unit's budget, including controlling costs, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring the proper allocation of resources.
- Supervise nursing employees, including Registered Nurses (RNs) and Licensed Assistant Nurses (AN).
- Schedule shifts, assign duties, and ensure adequate staffing to meet patient care needs.
- Manage inventory of medical supplies and equipment.
- Develop and enforce policies and procedures for the nursing unit to ensure consistency and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards.
Compliance and Safety
- Implement and adhere to safety protocols and infection control practices to minimize risks and prevent incidents, promoting a safe working environment for employees and patients.
- Communicate policy, procedure, or protocol changes to the nursing team.
- Stay updated on healthcare regulations and standards changes, ensuring the nursing unit complies with all local, state, and federal regulations and Dubai Health's policies.
Leadership and Team Management
- Support and mentor nurses in their professional development by conducting performance evaluations, providing feedback, and identifying opportunities for further training and education.
- Manage team conflicts, address performance issues, and handle disciplinary actions when necessary. Promote a positive work environment that encourages teamwork, collaboration, and job satisfaction.
Reporting and Documentation
- Maintain medical records following legal and organizational standards, ensuring accurate and timely documentation of patient care, employee activities, and unit operations.
- Generate and review reports on unit performance, patient outcomes, and quality improvement initiatives, presenting findings and recommendations to higher management as needed.
- Any other assignments related to the nature of the job assigned by the management.

Qualification Requirements:
- Master's in nursing or health care administration
Experience Requirements:
- Minimum 5 to 7 in nursing experience
Certification & Licensure:
- Licensed as registered nurse from Dubai Health Authority
- CPR/BLS certification
