Day to Day Operations:

1. Perform Heat load calculation for Air Conditioning system for Oil Rigs, Jack up vessels, offshore Platforms, Barges, Ships, Exploration & Survey vessels etc.
2. Involves selection of equipment (Split AC, Package A/C, Chiller, AHU, FCU, Ventilation fan, Pumps, etc.), design of ducting, design of chilled water piping, selection of pumps, valves, etc.
3. Reviewing vendor data sheets for approval/comments prior submitting to the client.
4. Carry out design in-consideration with various heat generating / transmitting / equipment /material with the aid of cooling Load Estimation software (Carrier HAP latest version).
5. Design of Air-conditioning ie; DX system and chilled water system.
6. Pipe design and pipe sizing, static pressure calculations & selection of grilles & diffusers.
7. Duct design & duct sizing in accordance with ISO standards, EU regulations, SMACNA guide and DW144 for ductwork specification & fabrication procedures.
8. Involves in estimation for all the HVAC related enquiries and to support for Bid submission.
9. Preparation of HVAC Design philosophy, HVAC Control Philosophy, Pre Commissioning & Commissioning procedure, Interface Schedule for F&G and Platform Control System, HVAC Consolidated MTO, I/O Point Schedule and Cause & Effect for HVAC Controls.
10. Preparation of Chilled water/ Condenser water P&ID, Instrument air P&ID, Flow diagrams, Isometric drawing and General Arrangement of Piping Layout, Typical Hook up drawings for Fire dampers & field instruments.
11. Machinery space and engine room ventilation system design and engineering.
12. Expertise in the design, planning, execution, coordination, monitoring, & site supervision.
13. Independently carrying out detailed site survey and preparing scope of work, MTO at off-shore and overseas territory.
14. Adept in planning & timely project execution, including commissioning & maintenance.
15. Preparation of MR, TBE for client approval prior placing purchase order to vendor.
16. Independent handling of HVAC system from concept to commissioning.
17. Sound exposure in making & approving Shop floor and schematic drawing. Finalizing layout & general arrangement drawings and reviewing vendor documents in line with project specification requirement.
18. Complete job execution at site with the support of site supervisors and technician to ensure the equipment installation as per approved AFC/IFC drawings as part of Mechanical completion.
19. Performing MC line walk along with client prior to commence the Pre-commissioning and Commissioning.
20. Performing Pre-commissioning and commissioning of HVAC system.
21. Shall hold support responsibility to all Project & Estimation teams.

Qualifications:

Education: Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Refrigeration or Equivalent

Training: Leadership training, Presentation skills, Advanced knowledge in HVAC Design software.

Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in HVAC design & engineering and commissioning.

• System Design and Engineering:

  • Design HVAC systems for residential, commercial, and industrial buildings to ensure proper airflow, temperature control, and energy efficiency.
  • Calculate heating and cooling loads based on building specifications, including size, layout, and occupancy.
  • Select and specify appropriate HVAC equipment (e.g., air conditioning units, boilers, pumps, air handlers) and integrate them into building plans.
  • Create detailed drawings and specifications for HVAC systems, including ductwork, piping, and ventilation systems.
  • Conduct energy modeling and simulations to optimize system performance and reduce energy consumption.

• Installation and Commissioning:

  • Supervise the installation of HVAC systems, ensuring compliance with design specifications, building codes, and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, and other professionals to ensure seamless installation and integration.
  • Oversee system commissioning, including testing, adjusting, and balancing (TAB) to ensure the system operates as designed.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve any issues during the installation process, including system malfunctions or deviations from specifications.

• Maintenance and Troubleshooting:

  • Perform regular inspections and maintenance of HVAC systems to ensure optimal performance and extend system lifespan.
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and control issues within HVAC systems.
  • Replace or repair faulty components, such as compressors, motors, pumps, fans, or thermostats.
  • Implement preventive maintenance programs to reduce downtime and improve system reliability.

• Energy Efficiency and Sustainability:

  • Design and implement energy-efficient HVAC solutions to minimize environmental impact and operational costs.
  • Evaluate energy usage and recommend upgrades to existing HVAC systems to improve efficiency.
  • Stay up to date with industry trends, energy codes, and sustainability practices to incorporate green technologies, such as geothermal, solar, or VRF (Variable Refrigerant Flow) systems.

• Regulatory Compliance and Documentation:

  • Ensure that HVAC designs and installations comply with relevant building codes, safety standards, and environmental regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of HVAC systems, including design plans, specifications, testing and commissioning reports, and maintenance records.
  • Prepare reports and certifications required by regulatory agencies, such as energy efficiency certifications or emissions compliance.

• Collaboration and Communication:

  • Collaborate with architects, civil engineers, electrical engineers, and contractors to integrate HVAC systems into building designs.
  • Communicate effectively with clients, stakeholders, and team members to understand system requirements and ensure project success.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers and technicians during the design, installation, and maintenance phases.

• Project Management and Budgeting:

  • Manage HVAC projects from concept to completion, ensuring that projects are delivered on time and within budget.
  • Prepare cost estimates for HVAC systems, including equipment, installation, and maintenance costs.
  • Monitor project progress, address any delays or issues, and adjust schedules or budgets as necessary.
