Main job function: Our client, based in Umhlanga, Durban, is looking for a Restaurant Manager to join their buzzing restaurant and bar. A restaurant general manager is the senior leader responsible for overseeing all aspects of a restaurant’s daily operations to ensure it runs smoothly, efficiently, and profitably. This includes managing staff, controlling costs, ensuring high standards of food quality and cleanliness, and guaranteeing customer satisfaction. They are also responsible for strategic planning, marketing, and maintaining compliance with health and safety regulations.

• Staff management: Recruiting, hiring, training, scheduling, and evaluating all restaurant staff, from the kitchen to the front-of-house.
• Financial management: Creating and managing budgets, controlling costs, monitoring inventory, and analyzing financial performance to maximize profitability.
• Operational oversight: Supervising daily operations, including food preparation, service, and maintenance, and ensuring all food safety and health standards are met.
• Customer satisfaction: Ensuring a positive guest experience by addressing complaints, building relationships with customers, and implementing strategies to improve service.
• Strategic planning: Developing and implementing strategies to improve performance, meet business objectives, and stay competitive by identifying growth opportunities and staying updated on industry trends.
• Compliance and maintenance: Ensuring the restaurant adheres to all health, safety, and sanitation regulations, as well as company policies. This also includes overseeing the maintenance of equipment and the facility itself.
• If you have more than 5 years’ experience in the hospitality industry

• Experience: Proven experience in a restaurant management or a similar role, often 2–5 years or more, especially in a high-volume establishment.
• Education: A high school diploma is often required, but a bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business, or a related field is often preferred.
• Certifications: Food safety and alcohol service certifications (such as ServSafe) may be required or preferred.

• Leadership: Inspires and motivates staff to deliver excellent performance, especially in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment.
• Business acumen: Possesses a strong understanding of restaurant operations, financial management, and cost control.
• Communication: Interacts effectively with staff, customers, and vendors.
• Problem-solving: Resolves issues and makes sound decisions under pressure.
• Customer service: Committed to providing exceptional dining experiences and resolving customer complaints.
• Organizational skills: Manages multiple priorities and responsibilities, such as scheduling, inventory, and finances.
• Adaptability: Remains flexible to cover a variety of duties, including working nights, weekends, and holidays

Remuneration: R30k-R35K
