What the day will look like
As the Head of Data & Analytics APAC, you will manage a team to deliver Data & Analytic capabilities to the Aon business. You will lead, develop and maintain the data and analytics strategy for the region working to enhance efficiency, execution and colleague experience. Working as part of a global function, this role involves building stakeholder relationships, driving a modernisation of data analytic tools, as well as driving the development, implementation and promotion of data governance and quality frameworks and strategies.
Stakeholder Relationships
- Collaborate with senior stakeholders to align analytics initiatives with business objectives and requests and work closely to achieve delivery of quality outputs
- Supervise team performance, development, and task delegation
Data Governance
- Work with business teams to understand & define their key data needs to support analytics and operational delivery for clients
- Work with Aon’s Central Data Office to develop, implement, and maintain data governance policies, procedures, and standards in alignment with industry practices and regulatory requirements
- Support with establishing the framework and operating model that enables effective data governance & management locally in the region
- Collaborate with multi-functional teams to define data governance roles and responsibilities and promote a culture of data stewardship and accountability
- Help to identify and assign data stewards within the region
- Supervise the data steward & business/data analyst activities, provide guidance/support
- Establish and implement data quality standards, critical metrics and processes to ensure accuracy, completeness, and consistency of data across all systems and platforms
- Report progress on data cleaning / data quality activities
- Support regional and global MDM activities and outcome/critical metric delivery
- Prioritize and coordinate data governance & management initiatives within region helping provide the vital resources to carry them out
- Participate in global and regional data governance forums
Analytics and Operational Reporting Delivery
- Drive the automation and self-service approach for operational reporting
- Providing data quality analysis of issues to stakeholders
- Lead analytics projects and generate actionable insights through advanced analytics, data modeling, and segmentation. Your work will optimize business outcomes and drive critical initiatives.
- Driving data integrity and reporting quality
Data Operations
- Ensure key data operation tasks are maintained to ensure business continuity
- Collaborate with other teams to leverage capabilities and respond to organizational needs.
Skills and Experience that will lead to success
- Experience in BI, analytics, data analytics with at least 3 years in a leadership role
- Experience within finance / insurance preferred.
- Experience working in a large, complex environment, with a range of stakeholders, across multiple business units
- Background in data-related field: data analysis and visualisation, data quality, data warehousing, data engineering, financial reporting.
- Strong affinity with, and interest in new trends in AI & Data (including Data Governance and quality)
- Superb communication skills with the ability to simplify complex information optimally
- Expertise with relational databases, warehousing and lake-house technology - SQL Server, Oracle, Databricks, Snowflake, Azure Blob Storage / AWS S3.
- Extensive understanding of data management. Including awareness of the security, privacy, ethics and quality requirements for data, and data analysis techniques.
- Experience in logical and physical data model design and broader data architecture design.
- Prior development experience in some of SQL, python for data processing, PowerBI, Qlik.
- Experience in technical accounting solutions for insurance policy management, or in financial systems such as Workday Accounting, Oracle TM1 etc. a plus.
- Bachelor degree or equivalent in IT-related field.
