R&D Team Lead

In this role, you will identify, propose, and implement innovative technology, software, and/or solutions by contributing with your own ideas. You will execute product development tasks using your technical expertise, working independently as a member of an R&D team. Each day, you will perform a variety of technology and engineering assignments, recognizing problems and providing input on solutions. The work model for the role is: #LI-Hybrid. This role contributes to the Distribution Solutions Division within the Electrification Business Area in Dalmine. You will be mainly accountable for:

1. Documenting work and contributing to written reports
2. Keeping up to date with strategic plans and performing activities in line with the current direction
3. Contributing your own creative ideas to R&D projects and proposing follow-up activities based on project results
4. Gathering information about ABB products and technologies and developing an understanding of technical drivers and customer value
5. Providing consulting services to business operations and customers
6. Participating in working teams and offering assistance to co-workers, as well as consulting team members and colleagues to gain information and knowledge
7. Recognizing the importance of intellectual property in industry and the advantage of ABB's patents relevant to your own area of research, as well as grasping risk management in R&D projects

• Master’s degree qualification in technical fields preferably electrical or mechanical
• Up to 5 years of experience in mechanical or electrical engineering, preferably as a designer or engineer with mechanical and electromechanical products
• Sound knowledge of electricity and its effects (thermal, dielectric, mechanical stresses), mechanical/material engineering, and the electrical and/or mechanical market
• Knowledge of 2D CAD and 3D CAD systems (preferably SolidWorks). Ability to read simple electrical diagrams and develop mechanical/electrical design solutions starting from plain white paper
• A solution-focused approach and strong written and spoken communication skills
• Comfortable communicating in Italian and English, both written and spoken
