Team / division overviewThe DWS legal team based in London is looking to recruit a lawyer. The primary focus of the role is to support Technology, Infrastructure and Sourcing (TIS) matters, such as global information security, intellectual property software and general technology law related matters. The TIS lawyer provides advisory and transactional support, including drafting and negotiating agreements, related to technology, software (such as SaaS), data processing (together with the relevant Data Protection Officer), intellectual property (excluding patent matters), outsourcing activities (including in relation to IT-agreements) and general procurement services; as well as providing counsel for other infrastructure related matters and transactions including restructurings, acquisitions, divestitures and comparable activities such as transitional services in relation to TIS issues. The TIS lawyer understands the existing and emerging regulatory requirements affecting DWS in many jurisdictions and works to ensure that agreements and transactions meet these requirements.
Role Details:As an Associate General Counsel you will (be):- Managing DWS legal risk and protecting the integrity and reputation of DWS.
- Partnering with Risk, Compliance, Audit and others to provide a proactive integrated risk management approach.
- Understanding the existing and emerging regulatory requirements affecting DWS with respect to TIS and working to address these requirements.
- Providing TIS legal support including:
- Advise on issues related to information security and cybersecurity, data privacy, intellectual property, digital interface (website) and other IP/IT related issues and incidents and stay abreast of all relevant regulations in this regard.
- Draft, negotiate and advise on contracts related to matters including, but not limited to, intellectual property (including index and market data licenses), technology (infrastructure and software), real estate, outsourcing and other vendor contracts.
- Provide legal advice on data protection matters and assist with drafting template data protection clauses.
- Assist with engagement letters.
- Provide legal advice on patent, trademark, brand management, copyright, trade secrets and other forms of intellectual property protections.
- Advise on business continuity and recovery and resolution requirements.
- Provide legal advice for intra-group services and other internal agreements.
- Develop and maintain contractual templates/standardized contractual terms.
- Assist in the development of policies, processes and procedures to govern outsourcing and vendor risk management and contract management processes throughout their lifecycle.
- Assist in developing and providing training on vendor legal risk related matters to internal business clients.
- Assist in support of web-based disclosures/disclaimers and terms and conditions.
- Manage and coordinate with outside counsel on certain contract negotiations and drafting.
- Work closely with Compliance and the Risk Functions.
- Participate in or represent the legal department on various internal committees.
- Troubleshooting, including dealing with disputes and other legal and commercial issues.
- Advising the business in relation to regulatory change which may impact the business and assisting in the implementation of the same; and
- Supporting initiatives related to information security and cybersecurity, data privacy, intellectual property, digital interface (website) and other IP/IT related issues.
We are looking for:- Experience of working in a dynamic international environment and have an ability to relate to different business perspectives and approaches to arising issues.
- Experience in dealing with complex multi-jurisdictional situations.
- Solid knowledge of global information security, intellectual property software and general technology law related matters, either gained in-house or in private practice.
- Good organisational and project management skills.
- Ability to work autonomously and manage multiple priorities.
- An awareness of regulatory change in the global information security, intellectual property software and general technology law space.
- A practical approach to problem solving.
- An understanding of how to manage external counsel, including agreeing fee estimates and scope of assignments.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Good commercial sense.

DWS' Hybrid Working model in the UK is designed to find the right balance between in-person collaboration and engagement in the office, which is core to our working culture, and working from home.
