Wood is recruiting for a Principal Civil Engineer to join its UAE Business Unit to manage a project team independently consisting of Senior Engineers, Engineers, Sr. Designers / Designers & Draftsmen from various disciplines.
This is a residential position, with possible travel to Iraq for business trips as required.

Wood has been awarded an Onshore Brownfield project to support an International Client operation for delivering FEED, Detailed Design, Procurement, Construction, and Commissioning Services. Key Objectives
- Lead, motivate, coach, and manage a project team independently consisting of Senior Engineers, Engineers, Sr. Designers / Designers & Draftsmen from various disciplines.
- Ensure that the budget, timing, and quality of the engineering works are executed as required.
- Ensure that the projects assigned are executed in accordance with our quality system and company procedures.
- Ensure effective communications and coordination between all supervised staff, Lead Engineers of other departments, and Project Managers.
- Monitor overall productivity and efficiency of the projects, forecast trends, and anticipate potential problems.
- Implement staffing development plans and assign staff to specific projects or proposals.
- Carry out study works yourself or with your team or in assistance to other colleagues.
- Review tender documents and prepare man-hour estimates, submitting offers and contracts.
- Aim for sustainable and efficient solutions.
- Keep up with the standards, guidelines, and new techniques in your discipline and report these to your team members.
- Work with colleagues, external partners, and clients in a constructive and efficient way.
- Prepare an estimate of required man hours along with supporting documentation for proposals and major change orders.

Expected:
- Qualified Civil / Structural Engineer holding a Bachelor’s degree as a minimum.
- At least 15 years of relevant technical experience in designing various types of concrete and steel structures.
- Thorough knowledge of industry practices, codes, and standards applicable to civil and structural engineering.
- Fluent in both written and spoken English.
- Familiar with the creation of tender documents.
- Hands-on experience in industry software, such as STAAD Pro, SAP, Mat 3D, Foundation 3D, 3D Model Review Tools (SPR & Navis Works), MS Office Suite, etc.
- Experience in reviewing Key Deliverables prepared by the Civil / Structural team or produced by other work-share offices.
- Experience in Brownfield and FEED projects.
- Good communication skills and a team player.
- Client-oriented, flexible, and willing to put in extra effort.
- Demonstrated strong engineering competence, interpersonal/team building skills, and leadership skills.
- Candidates must be willing to travel to Basra, Iraq.
