WSP is seeking a Power Systems Engineer with over ten years of experience in power systems engineering design, installation, configuration, testing, commissioning, and site supervision. The role emphasizes meeting contract requirements regarding quality, time, and budget. The position is based in Jordan with remote support for projects across the GCC region.
Responsibilities
- Perform power system analysis for transmission and distribution projects.
- Conduct feasibility studies, master plans, dispatch studies, renewable integration, and grid code reviews.
- Prepare renewable generation connection schemes from distribution to utility-scale, including techno-economic optimization.
- Carry out load flow studies, fault level calculations, harmonic analysis, voltage stability, and transient stability analysis using DIgSILENT, PSS/E, PLEXOS, ETAP, PSCAD.
- Review technical submittals of Power System Studies from EPC contractors and developers in accordance with client’s electricity standards.
- Ensure compliance with Transmission Codes and international standards.
- Review power system models developed by EPC contractors for specific studies.
- Attend meetings and address technical clarifications from EPC contractors and developers.
- Participate in FAT & SAT visits to verify performance criteria, using tools like RTDS.
- Review updated models post-FAT/SAT to ensure grid compliance.
- Conduct various power system studies, including reactive power capability, grid impact, stability, insulation coordination, switching transients, fault transients, transformer energization, harmonics, and relay coordination.
- Ensure compliance with ETC standards and regional grid codes, particularly in the Middle East.
- Manage project execution and assist in acquiring new business.
- Adhere to company policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Electrical or Power Systems Engineering.
- Proficiency with power system study software.
- Willingness to contribute to bids and proposals.
- Willingness to travel internationally for client interactions.
- Experience in power system studies for transmission and distribution projects.
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to build strong client relationships and coordinate across disciplines.
