Are you passionate about storytelling that drives social change? Do you believe in the power of independent media to challenge mainstream narratives and amplify underrepresented voices?

Migrant Women Press is looking for a creative, curious, and committed Newsletter Editor to take the lead on our weekly and monthly email updates. You’ll craft compelling content that keeps our readers engaged, informed, and connected to a global community of migrant and racialised women.

This isn’t just a newsletter. It’s a space to spotlight migrant and racialised women’s voices, celebrate resistance, and build connections across borders.

Migrant Women Press is a migrant women-led independent media outlet dedicated to amplifying the voices of migrant and racialised women through journalism, storytelling, and community building.

We publish journalism, opinion pieces, and personal narratives that explore identity, migration, race, gender, and justice — always from an intersectional feminist and anti-racist lens. Beyond publishing, we offer training, workshops, and mentorship opportunities to empower women to reclaim their narratives and step into the media spotlight.

Since 2020, we’ve shared hundreds of stories from over 30 countries, collaborated with leading and grassroots organisations, and reshaped narratives through campaigns like our 16 Days Against Gender-Based Violence project. Our contributors are community leaders, media professionals, students, activists, and changemakers — but above all, they bring the power of lived experience to every story they tell.

Whether you're a student, early-career journalist, or passionate community organiser — this role is a fantastic opportunity to build experience, skills, and confidence in a real-world editorial environment. As Newsletter Editor, you will:

1. Develop your writing, editing, and digital communication skills
2. Build your portfolio with high-quality, published content
3. Gain experience using publishing tools like Substack, Canva, and audience analytics
4. Learn how to curate content, engage readers, and grow an online community
5. Work closely with a small, passionate team committed to inclusive storytelling
6. Deepen your understanding of independent, intersectional feminist and anti-racist media work
7. Be part of a movement to reclaim narrative power and challenge systemic exclusion in media

We’re committed to supporting you with regular check-ins, opportunities for creative input, professional development and a space to grow.

1. Plan and manage the weekly/monthly newsletter content calendar
2. Write and edit content aligned with MWP’s tone and values
3. Collaborate with the editorial and comms teams to gather updates, features, and stories
4. Ensure the newsletter is visually engaging and mobile-friendly
5. Track engagement and contribute to content strategy
6. Stay updated on newsletter trends and tools

Essential:

1. Excellent writing and editing skills
2. Experience producing digital content (blogs, newsletters, social media)
3. Strong grammar, attention to detail, and eye for layout
4. Familiar with platforms like Substack and Canva
5. Organised, reliable, and deadline-driven
6. Collaborative and aligned with the mission of Migrant Women Press
7. Interest in or knowledge of issues affecting migrant and racialised women

Desirable:

1. Background in journalism, media, marketing, or creative writing
2. Basic design or branding knowledge
3. Understanding of email analytics and reader engagement
