Deputy Head Teacher (Special School) – Derbyshire
Connex Education is seeking a Deputy Head Teacher to work at our specialist school in Derbyshire. Initially, we are looking for someone to join our team until Christmas, but this could extend to Easter or even the summer depending on the needs of the school.
As part of this role, the successful candidate will be the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL), lead the pastoral team, and take responsibility as the Behaviour Lead. They will also play a critical role in ensuring high standards of behaviour across the school.

Pay Rate: £290 to £330 Per Day (Depending on Experience)
The Role
The way in which the Deputy Head Teacher goes about their day will, in many ways, define the school’s outcomes, successes, and character. We are looking for a practitioner who shares our vision and can embody our ethos in every decision they make and every conversation they have, whether that’s with students, parents, or professionals.
The staffing structure around our family of schools means that the Deputy Head Teacher will be well supported, allowing them to focus on what is really important. A dedicated Head of Teaching, Learning, and Curriculum will help drive the quality of education. You will work closely with a team of school leaders in similar settings across the region and country, alongside a specialist Regional SENCO.
The Right Person
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
Proven record of good or outstanding teaching practice.
An excellent, efficient, and emotionally intelligent communicator.
The ability/willingness to teach a subject specialism to GCSE or equivalent vocational level.
A strong desire to work inclusively within an emotionally literate environment, supporting children who have experienced adverse childhood experiences (ACEs).
Experience in crisis management/managing challenging behaviours and working with children with SEMH difficulties.
Proven experience in implementing a creative and academically engaging curriculum that meets the needs of individual pupils while maintaining high educational standards.
Experience of working effectively with hard-to-reach or disengaged families.
