As a Mechanical Design Engineer at CMTG, your key responsibilities will include:

Mechanical Design & Development

1. Translate customer requirements and technical specifications into comprehensive mechanical designs and system architectures.
2. Develop and design precision sensors, assemblies, and systems using CAD software (Autodesk Inventor, AutoCAD, or similar).
3. Select appropriate techniques, procedures, and methods for mechanical design development tasks.
4. Ensure the identification and management of mechanical deliverables, meeting agreed quality and schedule expectations.

Detailed Design & Development

1. Develop detailed engineering drawings, schematics, and 3D models using CAD software.
2. Ensure designs meet functional, safety, and performance requirements through rigorous design methodologies.
3. Maintain robust configuration management of all products and documentation.

Verification & Validation

1. Conduct comprehensive testing to ensure designs meet functional, safety, and performance requirements.
2. Build and test prototypes to validate design concepts and identify areas for improvement.
3. Conduct performance evaluations using appropriate analysis tools and methods to ensure product reliability.

Project & Product Documentation

1. Maintain responsibility for Bills of Materials (BOMs) and collaborate with the engineering team to produce production build documentation.
2. Create and maintain detailed product documentation, including engineering drawings, specifications, configurations, and BOM.

Innovation & Problem-Solving

1. Apply existing technologies and project engineering skills to lead the development of condition monitoring solutions.
2. Identify problems, analyse root causes, and develop effective solutions related to mechanical design challenges.

Collaboration & Communication

1. Collaborate effectively with engineers, technicians, customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure project success.
2. Work effectively with internal colleagues, customers, and suppliers throughout the product development process.
3. Maintain strong customer focus and ensure that end products meet or exceed customer expectations.

Compliance & Professional Development

1. Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulatory requirements.
2. Continuously develop professional competence by maintaining and recording Continuing Professional Development (CPD) activities.

Leadership

1. Assist the leadership team in managing and delivering mechanical design commitments within the required quality and schedule parameters.
2. Work closely with the leadership team to ensure that project and business-wide targets are met.

With a strong foundation in mechanical engineering design, you bring a deep understanding of engineering principles, mechanics, and design methodologies. Your expertise in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, Autodesk Inventor) allows you to develop innovative and technically sound product designs. You also have experience managing parts, assemblies, and Bills of Materials (BoMs) within ERP systems.

Your skill set extends to electro-mechanical design, with the ability to develop products that integrate electrical components, PCBs, and sub-assemblies. With strong analytical and problem-solving skills, you proactively address complex engineering challenges, ensuring optimal performance and reliability.

Detail-oriented and quality-focused, you ensure all designs meet safety, performance, and regulatory standards. Your independent project management abilities allow you to handle multiple priorities efficiently, working autonomously while delivering results.
