Job description

Plant Operator

Toro Recruitment has partnered with an innovative waste-to-energy company in East Anglia who are currently seeking a Plant Operator to join their groundbreaking project that could revolutionise the energy industry.

As a Plant Operator, you will ensure the safe and compliant operations of the plant through its commissioning phases. Your primary responsibilities will include calibrating, cold commissioning, hot commissioning (with and without feed), and overseeing the plant's continuous 24/7 operation over a 30-day period.

Key Responsibilities of a Plant Operator:

  1. Serve as the main point of contact for all site deliveries, ensuring adherence to site protocols.
  2. Handle material management and logistics on-site.
  3. Oversee the loading of feedstock into the facility.
  4. Manage char and skip exchanges efficiently.
  5. Conduct daily inspections of the plant to ensure smooth operation.

Requirements:
  1. Experience operating plant machinery.
  2. Ideally possess a Telescopic Handler certificate or relevant experience (training available).
  3. Ideally possess a Counterbalance Lift Truck Operator certificate or relevant experience (training available).
  4. Certification in First Aid at Work or Emergency First Aid.
  5. Strong, clear, and concise communication skills are essential.

Key Information:
  1. Hourly Rate: £19.43 per hour.
  2. Positions start immediately and are contracted until End of June 2025, with the possibility of transitioning to full-time roles based on personal and project performance.
  3. 24/7 Shift Pattern including days and nights averaging 56 hour weeks.
