Join Woodhouse: A Hands-On Role in a Dynamic Team

At Woodhouse, we don’t just build industry-leading temporary equine stabling and trade stand structures – we build careers. For over 130 years, Woodhouse has been a trusted name in providing high-quality temporary structures for prestigious equestrian events, trade shows, and large-scale outdoor exhibitions. Our success is built on expertise, precision, and the dedication of our people.

Why Woodhouse?

As a Site Assistant, you’ll support the Site Lead in overseeing event builds, setups, and takedowns, ensuring operations run smoothly and safely. This hands-on role offers the opportunity to develop key skills while working within a supportive, dynamic team. If you’re looking to grow within a company that values training, development, and career progression, this is the role for you.

A Role with Responsibility and Challenge

As a Site Assistant, you’ll work alongside the Site Lead to ensure efficient and safe operations during event builds and takedowns. You’ll actively contribute to the setup and dismantling of temporary structures while ensuring that safety protocols and quality standards are met. The role provides a chance to take on increasing responsibility and offers opportunities for career progression into a Site Coordinator role.

  • Supporting the Site Lead: Assist in carrying out daily tasks as directed by the Site Lead, ensuring the build and takedown stay on schedule.
  • Managing the team in the Site Lead’s absence: Take charge of overseeing the team when the Site Lead is away, ensuring that work continues efficiently and safely.
  • Hands-on labour and site preparation: Actively participate in the setup, dismantling, and maintenance of temporary structures, ensuring quality and safety standards are met.
  • Team coordination: Act as a bridge between the Site Lead and the workforce, ensuring smooth communication and task delegation.
  • Material and equipment management: Help track materials, tools, and equipment, ensuring availability and proper maintenance for each phase of the build.
  • Safety compliance and site organisation: Assist in enforcing health and safety procedures and keeping the site tidy and organised to reduce risks.
  • Problem-solving: Identify and report on-site issues to the Site Lead and contribute to finding practical solutions to maintain efficiency.
  • Client and stakeholder interaction: Support the Site Lead in managing client needs on-site, ensuring progress continues uninterrupted.
  • Time and task management: Ensure assigned tasks are completed efficiently, keeping up with project timelines and expectations.
What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for motivated individuals who enjoy hands-on work and thrive in a team environment. The ideal Site Assistant will be a reliable team player who excels in a fast-paced, physical work environment. You’ll have a keen eye for detail, be eager to learn, and be capable of working under the direction of the Site Lead while also taking initiative when needed. Training opportunities will be provided for individuals demonstrating the right work ethic and attitude. This role is an excellent stepping stone for those looking to develop within the industry, with opportunities for progression into a Site Coordinator position.

  • Strong teamwork and communication skills.
  • Proactive, hardworking, and able to follow instructions effectively.
  • Good problem-solving abilities and adaptability to changing site conditions.
  • Strong awareness of health and safety standards on various sites.
  • Physically fit and comfortable working outdoors in all weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel and stay overnight as required.
  • Previous experience in temporary structures, marquees, or similar hands-on site work.
  • Full UK driving licence preferred.
  • CSCS / MUTA Structure Safe Cards (training can be provided for the right candidate).
  • Forklift / Telehandler / Moffett / LMF certification is desirable but not essential as training can be provided.
  • Basic IT skills required.
