Perform frontline supervisory functions and will be responsible for shop employee training, development, employee relations, discipline, performance reviews, as well as continuous improvement methods to improve the quality and efficient manufacturing/assembly process of steel door products. Lead all Company and safety policies / regulations.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities - Supervisory- Provide supervision to assist with the assembly of interior door products finished goods using communication skills and necessary trade skills.
- Lead the department in achieving monthly volume and sales targets.
- Manage staff to achieve labor cost as % of sales targets.
- Share staff with other departments as needed to promote labor flexibility during demand spikes throughout the organization.
- Implementation of sustainable corrective action to eliminate problems from recurring.
- Review time clock reports daily or as requested.
- Prioritize customer work orders for the day using the production schedule and work tickets in order to meet the expected delivery date to customer.
- Delegate work assignments for the day using work tickets.
- Promote a positive image of the company and its products using a healthy attitude that continuously maintains a professional and positive work environment.
- Report all damaged material to the Traditional Manufacturing Shops Manager so that it may be recorded, in order to maintain accurate inventory records. Mark damaged material with labels supplied.
- Respond to suggestions for improvements made by employees using effective leadership and communication skills.
- Delegate tasks and order supplies, coordinating with facility manager as necessary to provide for maintenance of machinery so that operations continue effectively using necessary equipment and supplies ie: oil, new blades, cleaning.
- Respond to First aid and Fire emergencies using knowledge of company health and safety policies and proper medical or fire equipment.
- Evaluate reporting employees’ performance. Review new employee’s performance after the 90 day probationary period and all employees annually.
- Lead the department goal setting process annually, involving all employee ideas from within the department. Be responsible to implement all goals.
- Oversee the training and development of employees within the department.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities - Shop- Perform all job operations in a safe manner in accordance with company safety policies.
- Read work tickets of items to be assembled using product knowledge and reading skills.
- Assist in set up of machinery using work tickets and trade skills for specified product line.
- Set-up machinery daily, depending on the job to be performed.
- Coordinate necessary materials for production using work tickets and trade skills for specified product line to ensure maximum efficiency, flow and utilization of employees.
- Fabricate/Assemble materials for the production of the finished goods specified using work tickets and trade skills.
- Inspect finished product for acceptable quality standards and match to order specifications.
- Assist in the shop housekeeping so that production runs smoothly i.e.: sweeping, storing, cleaning, using the necessary equipment.
- When needed employee will operate a forklift in a safe manner.
- Provide feedback to Purchasing on quality and service of interior door component vendors.
- Maintain the door kanban on a scheduled basis.
- Perform cycle counts and make inventory adjustments as required.

Required Education & Experience- At least 3 years of progressively responsible supervisory/leadership experience in a manufacturing environment
- High School diploma, Vocational School or general education degree (GED)
- Ability to read, write, speak and comprehend the English language with highly developed oral and written communication skills
- Prior experience in Lean manufacturing practices and 5S principles
- Prior experience with door products manufacturing / assembly and doors and trim
- Wood species knowledge.
- Wood working machine and process knowledge.
- Strong mathematical and mechanical skills. Ability to use measuring devices such as a tape measure and transfer them to a production piece within 1/32”

- Hand and power tools experience standard to the carpentry field (see list below)
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions; deal with problems involving a few concrete variables and standardized situations
