Job summary

Qualifications

  • Proficient in CAD software, preferably Solidworks.
  • Experience in tooling design and moulding processes.

Job description

IntaPeople are proud to be working with a local business in South Wales, to help find a Design Engineer to join their growing team.

Reporting directly to the Design Team leader, your main responsibilities would be:

  1. Creating 3D designs specifically to customer requirements at a target cost.
  2. Producing parts listing for manufacture of design, advising on material selection and manufacture method.
  3. Participating in the company R&D and innovation programme for product development.
  4. Attending technical meetings with customers at our UK plant, or with customers globally to take design briefs or design reviews.
  5. Working as part of a small team, collaborating on larger designs and providing quality assurance on team members' work.
  6. Attending customers' premises to reverse engineer parts and also assist with installations as appropriate.
  7. Working closely with the manufacturing team on the development, assembly and testing of tool designs.

Key skills

  1. Ability to use CAD (Solidworks preferred).
  2. Tooling design (tool maker experience advantageous).
  3. Deep understanding of either metal or plastic moulding.
  4. Solid engineering background.

Personal qualities

  1. A good team worker.
  2. Good communication skills, written and verbal.
  3. Comfortable in a front-line customer facing role.
  4. Ability to take on significant innovation challenges and problem solving.
