Job Title: Power Supply & Traction Power Engineer
Location: Toronto, Ontario
Type: Contract
Compensation: $90 - $95 hourly
Contractor Work Model: 3 days in office, 2 remote
System One is seeking an enthusiastic, self-motivated Senior Power Supply & Traction Power Engineer to work on our RSSOM project. The successful candidate's ideas for continuous improvement and creativity are welcome. The position is based in Toronto, Ontario, CA.
Accountabilities
- 5 to 10 years of Engineering and Commissioning expertise.
- Knowledge of the Design and Development processes, related procedures, and instructions, KPIs.
- Knowledge of the system, subsystems of a transportation system, and related interactions, system architecture.
- Knowledge of the basic technical concepts and the main PS&TP architecture and equipment.
- Knowledge of the principles of electrical system design.
- Knowledge of the process of checking that Traction Power and Power Supply meet specifications and fulfill their purposes, including factory and on-site testing.
- Knowledge of the process of verifying that electrical systems meet specifications and requirements, including factory and on-site testing.
- Knowledge of commissioning rules and standards relevant to the specific project and country, ensuring adherence and proper training of involved personnel.
- Knowledge of the railway environment, related risks, rules, and adherence in planning and executing commissioning activities.
- Ensure interface with other relevant technologies.
- Plan and coordinate test activities on-site according to schedule.
- Verify Power Supply & Traction Power documents as per V&V Plan.
- Execute tests, prepare reports, identify non-compliances, and propose remedies.
- Identify contractual requirements for PS&TP design.
- Contribute to standardization of contact line across projects.
- Monitor activity completion against project budget.
- Reduce design releases compared to previous projects.
Preferred Profile
Experience in traction power systems or related electrical systems.
Education / Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical, Electronic, or Computer Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent technical experience.
- Ontario P.Eng is highly desirable.
