The main task of the night auditor is the verification of the commercial transactions done during the business day in order to balance the accounts and the deposit. At the same time, the auditor is also responsible for all front desk related tasks during the night shift: welcoming guests, proceeding to the guests’ check-ins and check-outs, responding to requests and coordinating the hotel activities throughout the night, taking reservations, giving information about the hotel and its services, providing information about the city and the touristic activities of the region, and ensuring proper communication between the departments. The night auditor must also handle first level complaints.
Availability and flexibility, rigour and team spirit are all prerequisite criteria for a night auditor. It is essential to have an acute sense of details and great relational skills for contact with the clientele. Working alone or in a small team, the night auditor must show initiative and must be able to work under pressure.
The night auditor position requires working weekends or holidays (can include day and/or evening shifts for a part-time auditor). The work schedule can vary according to the occupancy level of the hotel and the season.
