We are uniquely positioned to capture that market transition with the Cisco 8000 product family.
You will be part of the Cisco 8000 product team responsible for designing, implementing and collaborating on features that will run on the existing and next generation of Data Centers, Core and Edge routers. You will lead a team of SDK and P4 developers working on Cisco Silicon One flagship ASIC DataPath programming, implementing features and commonly shared infrastructure. You will have the opportunity to make an impact to the world in a fun thriving environment and to interact closely with diverse teams from different domains (ASIC hardware, software, applications and marketing) and from all around the globe.
Your Impact
As the ideal candidate for the Manager of Software Development, you possess a solid background in developing software for scalable network solutions, specifically focusing on L3 forwarding including QoS and ACL. You are experienced in leading, designing and implementing innovative products and collaborating across global teams, ensuring successful integration with both existing and next-generation Core and Edge routers. Your peers would describe you as self-motivated, highly ambitious, and passionate about changing the status quo. You would be able to tackle complex, time-constrained problems in which your technical and leadership skill will help you succeed in a collaborative environment.
As the Manager of Software Development, you will work on innovating products and massively scalable network solutions that are deployed by some of the leading web scalars and service providers in the world. Other responsibilities include…

1. Lead a team of software for our Cisco 8000 NextGen router product family, with emphasis in L3 forwarding and QoS technology.
2. Work closely with Data Centers/Web customers and Service provider customers to assist them in building and deploying groundbreaking features, solutions and applications.
3. Plan, communicate and follow up on detailed execution plans with milestones and deliverables.
4. Work closely with the HW team to ensure successful interfacing of the NOS with the network hardware.
5. Potentially participate in Cisco Patent Program and standardization activities (IETF, IEEE, etc).

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor’s in STEM with 12+ years of relevant experience or Master’s in STEM with 8+ years of relevant experience or PhD in STEM with 5+ years of relevant experience.
• Experience programming and testing embedded software with C/C++.
• Experience in leading projects and teams in software development.
• Previous experience developing and debugging embedded systems based on Linux OS.
• Experience with hardware solutions and hardware design to ensure successful interfacing with device drivers, registers, or other hardware components.
• Previous experience designing or implementing internet network protocols such as (IPv4, IPv6, MPLS, etc).

Preferred Qualifications

• Quality of Service (QoS) experience with classification and marking, scheduling and queuing, and shaping and policing.
• Knowledge of ASIC programming and SDKs.
• Python experience.
• CCIE or other networking certifications.
• Experience with Agile development methodologies.
• Experience in network virtualization development.
• Creative analytical skills and excellent troubleshooting/debugging skills.
• Strong written and verbal communication, experience in planning and project execution.
• Ability to handle various tasks at the same time, prioritize them and handle time effectively.
