What Your Day Will Look Like:
As an Archaeologist, your days will be dynamic and engaging, combining fieldwork, research, and collaboration. You’ll start by reviewing project scopes and coordinating with interdisciplinary teams to ensure compliance with cultural resource regulations. You will be coordinating archaeological assessments, preparing technical reports, and contributing to environmental impact assessments. You’ll mentor junior staff, provide quality assurance on fieldwork and documentation, and engage with clients, regulatory agencies, and Indigenous communities to support responsible project planning. Your expertise will play a crucial role in preserving cultural heritage while facilitating infrastructure and development projects across Canada.
What You'll Do:
• Conduct and lead a team to complete cultural resource surveys, archaeological excavations, and site evaluations.
• Oversee and conduct background research, site record reviews, and archaeological assessments.
• Ensure compliance with federal, provincial, and territorial regulations, including the Canadian Environmental Assessment Act and relevant heritage conservation acts.
• Prepare and review technical reports, including cultural resource management plans, environmental impact assessments, and mitigation strategies.
• Oversee artifact collection, cataloging, and curation in accordance with industry best practices.
• Provide mentorship, training, and guidance to junior archaeologists and field technicians.
• Coordinate with clients, regulatory agencies, and Indigenous communities to address cultural resource concerns.
• Develop and implement research designs and methodologies for field investigations.
• Analyze and interpret archaeological data using GIS, remote sensing, and other analytical tools.
• Collaborate with environmental scientists, engineers, and planners on multidisciplinary projects.
• Develop proposals and project budgets to support business development initiatives.
• Present findings at professional conferences, client meetings, and public outreach events.
• Ensure safety protocols and best practices are followed during field operations.
• Stay current with industry trends, technological advancements, and regulatory updates in cultural resource management.
• Lead technical training and knowledge-sharing sessions within the team.
• Manage projects including technical work delivery, budget, schedule, and communications.
• Build and maintain internal and external client relationships, and work with the senior leadership team to help drive the business plan.
• Some travel and overtime may be required.
