JOB DESCRIPTION
Provides quality professional services in the evaluation and treatment of patients with speech, language, cognitive, fluency, voice, swallowing, and feeding disorders, along with associated communication problems.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supports a caseload of patients with developmental speech and language delays, disorders, and swallowing or feeding issues in adults and/or pediatrics. Develops and implements specialized speech and language treatment plans.
- Facilitates and studies in-depth case histories, including medical, social, psychological, educational, and developmental information.
- Advises on the management and care of patients with communication needs and oro-motor difficulties.
- Utilizes standardized assessments and clinical reasoning to establish baselines or differential diagnoses to plan interventions.
- Delivers therapy interventions ensuring speech, language, and communication programs are integrated into the patient's daily routines.
- Coordinates with the SLP team and liaises with internal and external agencies to provide effective services.
- Provides individualized management, treatment, and advice, involving families, caregivers, and educators, and offers training to professionals from other disciplines.
- Monitors equipment usage, reports faults, and arranges repairs or updates.
- Develops infection control standards.
- Maintains confidentiality of patient information.
- Attends staff meetings and contributes to professional development and organizational compliance.
- Manages material shortages, orders supplies, and approves replenishments.
- Ensures clinical competency and performance management for the assigned unit.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience: Minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience in Speech and Hearing Sciences or Speech Language Pathology.
Educational Qualifications:
- BSc in Speech & Hearing, Speech Language Pathology, or Communications Sciences & Disorders.
- MSc in the same fields is preferred, which may reduce experience requirements by 1 year.
- Current national license or membership in a recognized international agency is preferred.
