APPLICATION ENGINEER- MARINE
Job Purpose
Ensure the technical specifications and scope of supply of our offering are as per the project/tender and authorities specifications and get the approval on it.
Core Responsibilities
- Solid understanding of ship design, application and engineering to provide solutions to customer needs.
- Conduct research and analysis in order to find the best-fit components suitable for integration into systems based on the application, operation profile, operational conditions and mission of the final products stipulated by the customer / end users / operators’ specifications.
- Designs, specifies, verifies and supports mechanical and electrical engineering systems and their components where applicable, for engine, gearbox, various types of propulsion systems, Gensets and its associated equipment.
- Implementation of simulation and sensitivity analysis for each proposed selection in order to reach the best fit with the required performance.
- Coordinate with projects/service department to prepare the life cycle cost and total cost of ownership, if required, and/or in case maintenance contract needs to be offered.
- Support the sales team with the technical marketing intelligence.
- Configure the sub-systems, automation systems and components scope of supply.
- Configure the system integration and specify the specifications to suppliers.
- Prepare the Bill of Material (BOM) based on the selection of the Machinery and the configured scope of supply.
- Suppliers’ qualification.
- Contact the suppliers, if required, asking for specs, cost and delivery times for the BOM.
- Simultaneously negotiate the prices with the local suppliers and prepare the final proposal to the sales team.
- Implementation of the Certifications, if applicable.
- Prepare the final BOM to the suppliers prior to placing the orders.
- Upon receipt of the order; hand over the project technical aspects and requirements to the project-processing engineer with formal MOM to be attached in the project master file.
- Perform other related duties as assigned by his superior and company.

Background & Experience (years)
Diploma/Bachelor of Marine engineering and naval architecture or Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
6 years proven experience in application and engineering field of marine propulsion engines and systems.

- Has the commissioning skills of marine propulsion engines and systems.
- Excellent exposure in ship design.
- Possess strong communication abilities.
- Excellent mathematical skills and the capacity to facilitate teamwork across departments.
- Proven network within the industry, especially consultants and end users.
- Perfect command of written & spoken English.
- Excellent knowledge of MS Projects.
- Excellent in MS Office Applications: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
- Excellent knowledge of AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor.
