Role Purpose
Global Express Data is committed to leading the cross-functional alignment of DHL Express's data convergence and governance to enable DHL Express to drive globally consistent quality and a better cost position for itself and its customers. They aim to do this by developing tools that measure data quality and completeness, ensuring data governance standards and processes are developed and adhered to, and ensuring data convergence is in place to identify and sunset legacy data flows. The focus is good quality, complete data end-to-end to support business processes cross-functionally thereby reducing data debt.
The key purpose of this role is to specify the scope/project(s) to ensure a sound understanding of business requirements, specify appropriate business solutions, and assess the impacts of change on the current business environment. Business solutions include business processes (manual or automated), associated performance measures, business rules, governance, standards, and technology, including IT systems. To be a centre of competency in the area of focus (Express Data) and provide leadership in applying business analysis best practices, tools, and internal standards within the organization.
How will you contribute to the success of DHL?
- Drive close liaison and coordination with the Express functions (CS, ESS, Net Ops, Sales, Pricing, Products, IT) when defining the requirements and business solutions.
- Make recommendations to process owners and project managers and the different approval bodies (Investment Committees, Project Boards, Functional heads...)
- Document & detail findings regularly with the relevant content board, and support with recommendations
- Manage change requests with cross-functional impact.
- Lead functional teams in understanding new and amended business solutions
- Provide expertise in specific areas of the business that have particular cross-functional relevance.
- Gather, understand, and prioritise business problems, opportunities, and requirements from business stakeholders.
- Deliver business-oriented and structured analysis of requirements within a given scope, so that the business needs and benefits are clearly defined.
- Specify business solutions and assess the impacts on the organization of a proposed solution, gaining buy-in and agreement to the solution.
- Work across the organization to ensure the required level of understanding to introduce the change expected with a given business solution.
- Ensure that requirements are fully documented, justified, agreed upon, and handed over to suppliers, IT, and/or others, for further technical analysis, design, and ultimately development.
- Ensure that the proposals delivered by IT and other suppliers as part of the design are understood, meet the needs of the business requirements, and are explained to the user community.
- Issue resolution with stakeholders for issues associated with the requirements and business solution.
- Supporting the preparation and execution of a structured test approach and the timely testing (from the business perspective) of delivered solutions. Help ensure that suppliers understand any issues identified.
- To ensure a consistent approach is maintained and that solutions integrate with the rest of the business. To escalate any major inconsistency in approach to Project Managers.
- Monitoring and analysis of newly implemented solutions to ensure delivery of the expected solution and associated benefits.
- Working with the project and program managers to plan the delivery of a business solution, identifying dependencies, issues, and strategies/resolutions for risk mitigation.
- Lead and co-ordinate analysis work streams/teams ensuring that the project manager is aware of progress and any divergence from plan.
- Quality assurance of analysis deliverables produced by others.
- Resolution of day-to-day business issues requiring cross-functional coordination and insight.
- Project management of project(s) where appropriate.
Do you have what it takes?- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Proven experience of 5-8 years as a Business Analyst or similar role with a focus on data analysis and visualization.
- Experienced in liaising with senior managers both within the organization and outside agencies.
- Expertise in PowerBI with a strong understanding of data visualization best practices.
- Proficiency in Snowflake data warehousing platform, including data modeling and integration.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams.
- Experience in SQL, Python, or other programming languages is a plus.
- Relevant certifications in PowerBI and Snowflake are desirable.
- Excellent communication and facilitation skills in English.
- Expertise in data governance, continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., First Choice), and DHL Express processes preferred.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to gather requirements, translate them into technical specifications, and document processes and data flows.
- Use structured methodologies, modeling techniques, and tools; certification (e.g., BABOK) preferred.
- Ensure quality assurance of analysis deliverables and resolve business issues requiring cross-functional coordination.
