Manager, Structural - MRO
Job Purpose / Objective
The Manager, Structural, is responsible for directing all structural related operations for Zone A, whether for rigs or vessels or other internal work in the yard. Supervises all related structural activities in the workshop and/or onboard and ensures that related works are carried out safely, on time and on budget in accordance with the project contractual obligations and International Maritime Industries Management System (IMIMS).
The role involves working closely with the GM Production, Production Manager, Project Managers, and the Production teams or other internal departments as required to ensure that all assigned scopes are executed as being described above. Ensures production line efficiency and proper housekeeping whether in workshop or onboard and when required prepares cost estimates for production/projects.
The role requires close and effective collaboration with other departments, communicating results and concerns to higher management, working under pressure, and driving a team to safely complete tasks against aggressive timelines and work scopes. Solution orientation and doing it right the first-time mindset is a must, with a proactive approach of solving issues before they become problems.

Qualifications & Experience
Education - Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
Professional Qualifications
• Marine-related professional qualifications or relevant time served.
• Relevant certifications in steel manufacturing or shipbuilding are advantageous.
Competencies -
• In-depth knowledge of steel manufacturing processes, techniques, and materials used in MRO for ships and rigs in a shipyard environment. Familiarity with relevant industry standards, quality control procedures, and dimensional tolerances.
• Proven experience in production planning, scheduling, and resource allocation. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects simultaneously, and meet project timelines.
• Negotiating and resolving conflicts.
• Documentation management.
• Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., MS suite, AutoCAD).
• Sound understanding of Engineering drawings.
• Sound knowledge on IACS Rules and Class Societies ones.
• Sound knowledge on tools/equipment and consumables and material grades.
• Application of best repair practices for all projects.
• Quality control and assurance.
• Understanding of Asset Management & ERP systems, and ISO Standards.
• Stress management.
• Lead by the front and by example.
• High level of leadership and managerial skills, problem solving and strong decision-making abilities.
• Excellent communication skills (written & oral).
• Physically fit and able to work in extreme climatic conditions.
Experience
At least 15 - 18 years’ experience in the Ship repair companies, Oil & Gas Industry, shipyard environment with real depth in steel works.
