Senior PLC Software Controls Engineer

Location: Nottingham
Salary: Up to £75,000
Hybrid: 2 days remote | 3 days onsite

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior PLC Software Controls Engineer to join a leading industrial automation team. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile projects, developing and commissioning bespoke automation solutions across various industries.

Key Responsibilities

PLC & HMI Development:

• Program and configure Siemens TIA Portal AND/OR Allen Bradley Studio 5000
• Develop PLC logic using Ladder Code, STL, and SCL
• Create and refine HMI screens for intuitive user interaction
• Implement function blocks, add-on instructions, and data blocks (Siemens)

Onsite Commissioning & Support:

• Commission industrial automation systems, including conveyor control and machine interfaces
• Configure safety controllers, drive systems, and motor controls
• Troubleshoot Profinet, Ethernet, and Profibus communication systems
• Provide remote and onsite technical support to clients

Project Management & Documentation:

• Develop and review technical documents aligned with industry standards
• Ensure all bespoke software is tested, reviewed, and compliant before shipping
• Work closely with project managers and engineers to ensure smooth project execution

What We're Looking For

Strong experience in Siemens TIA Portal OR Allen Bradley Studio 5000
Experience in industrial automation, machine control, and safety systems
Proficiency in PLC programming, HMI design, and industrial networking
Ability to work onsite (typically 50% onsite, 50% office-based)
Level 4 qualification in Electrical or Electro-mechanical Engineering
Full UK driving license (max 3 points)
