Title: Senior IT Architect
Reports To: IT Manager
Location: 24 Napoleon Road, Barrie, Ontario (Hybrid)
Job Purpose: The IT Architect’s role is to develop and maintain the high-level design plans for the overall logical and technical IT architecture, business continuity, and disaster recovery. This individual will provide technical leadership and consulting across the organization, from strategic decision-making down to the project planning level, and project execution. The IT Architect will gain organizational commitment for all high-level infrastructure plans and initiate and participate in projects to evaluate technologies and methods for implementing these plans, as well as implement approved projects. In a technical leadership capacity, the IT Architect will support the IT Manager and, as an escalation point, coach and guide peers in the IT department in resolving issues while being accountable to all functional areas within the Napoleon Group of Companies.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support all activities and accountabilities of the IT Manager as the second in command of all IT Operations. Lead, coach, and guide junior roles in the department.
- Architect, implement and manage LAN, WAN, and WIFI infrastructure including all switches, security appliances, subnets, VLANS, and routing.
- Architect, implement and manage all operating systems and end-user software.
- Architect, implement and manage virtualized environments and server infrastructure.
- Architect, implement and manage Office 365, Azure, and AD Administration including design, configuration, implementation, and management of: Group Policies; Security Groups; User accounts; Logon scripts.
- As escalation point for all IT peers, provide Tier 2 & 3 support. Design, configure, implement, and manage scripts to streamline and error-proof level 1 helpdesk tasks. Manage escalation to third-party support organizations.
- Architect, implement and manage email systems, ACLs, phone systems, surveillance systems, SANs, VLANs, WAN, LANs, WIFI, firewalls, Routers, DNS, Hosts, virtual infrastructure, and plant automation infrastructure as assigned.
- Lead and spearhead major projects as assigned.
- Architect, implement, configure, and manage backup software and related jobs (including testing routine system backups and restores) and design, write, and test all Disaster Recovery Plans for infrastructure systems, and assist in DRP implementations for Enterprise Software.
- Recommend, schedule, and perform software and hardware improvements, upgrades, patches, reconfigurations, and/or purchases.
- Assist third parties in architecting, implementation and management of cyber countermeasures while reporting on overall cyber defense posture.
- Ensure the integrity and cyber security of enterprise data on all host computers and servers, including cloud technologies.
Education & Experience:
- Minimum post-secondary education in Computer Science preferred.
- Minimum eight years’ experience as a technical consultant or architect, some within a consulting agency or managed services organization.
- Certifications Required: any of the following certification will be considered an asset: PMP, CCNA, ITIL 2011 Foundation, VMware vSphere: Install, configure, Manager [V5.5] training, CISSP, CompTIA A+, CompTIA Net+, MCP, MCSA or equivalent.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Visio, Project, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, Outlook); MS Active Directory, Office365 administration, asset Cisco CLI, or Meraki.
- Specialized Skills: Change Management, Server Optimization, Virtualization, Network Architecture, IT Architecture, Cybersecurity, Technical Business Analysis.
- Will participate in on-call rotation 24/7 schedule, including holidays and weekends.
- Must have a valid driver's license and access to a vehicle.
- Occasional travel outside Canada may be required.
