Job summary
A leading engineering company in the United Arab Emirates seeks a QC Inspector specializing in welding and NDE. The ideal candidate will have a diploma in Mechanical Engineering, relevant certifications, and at least 7 years of experience in the oil & gas industry. Responsibilities include monitoring welding processes, ensuring compliance with standards, and managing quality assurance across various projects. This role offers an opportunity to work on significant projects with major EPC contractors.
Qualifications
- CSWP 3.1 or AWS CWI for Welding and NDT Level II Certifications for NDE.
- Minimum 7 years experience as QC Inspector in relevant fields.
- Should have previously worked with major EPC contractors.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and report on fabrication, installation and testing processes.
- Review WPS PQR and weld maps.
- Ensure a system of welding consumable control is implemented.
- Perform visual and dimensional checks during the welding process.

Job description
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- CSWP 3.1 or AWS CWI for Welding and NDT Level II Certifications for NDE.
- CSWIP film interpretation/CSWIP 3.2.2/ RTFI Level II Certification through Petrofac for RT interpretation.
- Minimum 7 years experience as Welding/Piping/Pipeline QC Inspector & Painting/coating/Refractory/Fireproofing QC Inspector.
- Should have experience in oil & gas/petrochemical industry
- Should have previously worked with major EPC contractor or their subcontractors
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Welding:
- Monitoring and reporting fabrication installation erection and testing processes of process piping steel structures tanks vessels and metallic items.
- Review of WPS PQR and weld maps.
- Witness Welder Qualifications. Ensure that material/welding consumables are stored and handled correctly when required material traceability is maintained and correct material used.
- Ensure a system of welding consumable control is implemented.
- Ensure welding machines/baking ovens/quivers are in serviceable condition and where required is within the valid calibration period.
- Timely inspection during fabrication and construction.
- Check for the qualification of the welding personnel and the kind of materials being used for the process.
- Carry out inspection of work in progress including checking if the right procedure is followed for the welding process.
- Perform visual and dimensional checks.
- Monitor welding process parameters for compliance with approved procedures and project specifications.
- Perform in process (before/during/after) and final visual inspections.
- Prepare/Review Inspection reports(Fit-up Final Visual).
- Monitor performance of contractors ensure personnel are qualified and competent to perform allocated tasks have valid certification where required for the welding techniques in use.
- Review test reports including PWHT chart/records for process output compliance with requirements.
- Prepare/review daily welding reports.
NDE:
- Ensure that all non-destructive testing is performed in accordance with approved procedures by qualified and certified personnel.
- Verify validity of NDE Technicians certification for NDE method to be employed.
- Verify calibration status suitability and serviceability of equipment and consumables to be used.
- Coordinate NDE activities between subcontractor contractor and within Petrofac.
- Monitor supervise and assist NDE subcontractors to achieve quality standards.
- Witness performance of non-destructive testing and verify compliance with approved procedure.
- Interpret NDE results for acceptability to specification and code requirements.
- Review NDE reports and radiographs for compliance with procedure and code.
- Ensure ambient conditions are acceptable for required process output including darkroom facilities.
- Ensure that materials films chemicals etc. are stored and handled correctly.
- Review NDE procedures for suitability compliance to specifications and code requirements.
- Maintain status of NDE performed accepted/rejected and outstanding.
- Assist in the coordination of NDE activities
