Job Description:
As the Medical Affairs Manager, you will:
- Develop and conduct medical activities with scientific premise and provide cross-departmental strategic guidance in line with company strategies and goals, J&J Credo, and applicable J&J procedures, including but not limited to those related to Health Care Compliance, Clinical Research, Pharmacovigilance, GCPs, Regulatory Regulations, and local Legislation.
- Play an active role in defining and managing the budgets to achieve local company financial objectives.
- Provide leadership to support effective functioning of MSLs and coordinate MSL visits qualitatively and quantitatively.
- Act as a local representative to external stakeholders such as healthcare professionals, funders, societies, and patient organizations.
Middle Management Cross-Functional Collaboration:
- Be a member of the country value team.
- Work actively to develop new strategies and improve existing ones for the therapeutic area and consolidate these strategies cross-functionally.
- Collect and consolidate the necessary medical data and provide input on scientific data to top ethical standards.
- Ensure medical aspects of company strategies and practices are compliant with HCBI, national and global ethical procedures.
Medical Education and Training:
- Determine and organize medical programs (e.g., training programs, international/national congress participation, advisory boards, disease awareness programs) and assess their impact and success.
- Participate in medical training activities, contributing to the achievement of product plans.
- Plan and execute training for the field force to equip them with sufficient medical knowledge and ensure continuity of training programs.
People Management and Development:
- Recruit and retain the best available talent for the local company.
- Ensure all line-reports have appropriate documented skills and training to undertake their roles.
- Provide back-up to all essential tasks in times of absence.
- Conduct appraisals and training reviews of all direct reports.
- Encourage and see opportunities for medical staff to develop their careers within the organization.
Data Generation and Dissemination Activities:
- Support clinical trial teams in clinical trials (identifying investigators, selecting centers, investigator meetings, joint visits, identifying congresses/magazines for presenting the data, etc.) and establish communication with investigators as part of clinical investigation activities.
- Coordinate the review of posters, clinical studies, and manuscripts for local studies.
- Provide the necessary scientific support for pipeline products to be included in the portfolio of responsibilities.
- Play an active role in product launch preparations and enhance communication with target physician groups.
The Qualifying Requirements:
- Science degree: MBChB/MBBCh, PhD, or Masters.
- At least 2 years working experience in the pharmaceutical industry or research company with competency in a project management capacity.
- Medical Affairs experience.
- Deep scientific knowledge of the therapeutic area.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Business acumen.
