Job Title: Safety Officer (Plastic Pipes & Aluminum Façade Manufacturing)

Location: Jeddah
Reports to: Factory Manager / Health and Safety Manager

Job Summary:

The Safety Officer is responsible for ensuring that all safety regulations and protocols are followed within the factory, focusing on the manufacturing of plastic pipes and aluminum façades. The Safety Officer will conduct risk assessments, enforce safety policies, monitor compliance with local and international safety standards, and foster a culture of safety awareness among all factory staff. This role also involves inspecting equipment, overseeing hazardous materials handling, and ensuring the safe operation of machinery.

Key Responsibilities:

• Safety Policy Enforcement:
• Implement and monitor safety policies and procedures to ensure compliance with occupational health and safety (OHS) standards.
• Ensure all workers are aware of and follow factory-specific safety regulations, particularly in the production of plastic pipes and aluminum façades.
• Conduct regular safety audits and inspections of the production areas, equipment, and workstations.
• Risk Assessment and Hazard Management:
• Identify potential hazards within the manufacturing processes, including chemical handling, machinery operation, and material storage.
• Conduct regular risk assessments and develop strategies to mitigate risks related to the production of plastic pipes (including material handling) and aluminum façade work (including cutting, welding, and heavy lifting).
• Ensure proper ventilation, fire safety measures, and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) in areas dealing with plastic fumes or aluminum dust.
• Safety Training:
• Develop and deliver safety training programs for factory workers, focusing on the specific risks associated with plastic pipe extrusion, molding processes, and aluminum fabrication.
• Conduct regular drills (fire, evacuation, etc.) and ensure staff are well-versed in emergency response procedures.
• Train staff in the proper use of safety equipment and handling of hazardous materials (e.g., resins, chemicals, and flammable materials).
• Incident Investigation and Reporting:
• Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses in the factory, documenting findings and recommending corrective actions.
• Prepare detailed reports on safety issues and provide recommendations to management for improvement.
• Ensure all incidents are properly logged and reported to regulatory bodies as required by law.
• Compliance Monitoring:
• Ensure the factory complies with local and international safety regulations, including environmental, fire safety, and hazardous material handling laws.
• Regularly update safety protocols to reflect changes in regulations or best practices within the industry.
• Liaise with external safety auditors, government inspectors, and other relevant bodies during audits or inspections.
• Equipment and Machinery Safety:
• Inspect and certify the safe operation of factory machinery, including plastic extrusion machines, cutting tools, and welding equipment used in aluminum façade production.
• Ensure that all safety guards, emergency stops, and other protective devices are in place and functioning correctly.
• Collaborate with maintenance teams to ensure machinery is properly serviced and any safety concerns are addressed promptly.
• Emergency Preparedness:
• Develop and implement emergency response plans tailored to the factory environment, including protocols for fires, chemical spills, or equipment malfunctions.
• Maintain and regularly inspect fire extinguishers, safety alarms, first-aid kits, and emergency exits.
• Coordinate with local emergency services to ensure readiness for any potential factory emergencies.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Safety Officer in a manufacturing or industrial environment, preferably in plastic or metal fabrication industries.
• In-depth knowledge of safety management systems, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance.
• Strong understanding of OHS laws, hazardous materials handling, and machine safety in both plastic and aluminum production processes.
• Ability to effectively communicate safety information and conduct training sessions.

Educational Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Science, or related field.
• Certification in safety management (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH).
• Specialized training or certification in handling hazardous materials is an advantage.
