Key Responsibilities

• Facilitate learning and engage in research activities to contribute to the academic excellence of IMU.
• Deliver lectures, seminars, tutorials, and other teaching methods to undergraduate and postgraduate students. This includes incorporating problem-based learning, practical laboratory demonstrations, fieldwork, and e-learning techniques, with a growing emphasis on multimedia technologies.
• Participate in academic management tasks as assigned by the Head of Department.
• Pursue individual research interests and contribute to the broader research objectives of the department.

• Teach professional level undergraduate and graduate courses in food science, food innovation and nutrition.
• Develop a research program in the discipline and secure external grants.
• Participate in curriculum development and review.
• Collaborate with faculty on research and creative scholarship activities.
• Serve on departmental, school, and university committees, and participate in other academic functions.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

• PhD in Food Science/Food Technology/Food Engineering.
• Eligible for registration as a Technologist with Malaysian Board of Technologist.
• Proven experience in teaching, professional service, clinical practice and/or research.
• Effective communication to include written communication.

Candidates must specialise in any of the above disciplines. Candidates must have recognised basic and post-graduate degrees in the respective disciplines and with relevant working experience. Candidate should possess MBBS or equivalent qualification recognised by the Malaysian Medical Council and a post-graduate qualification recognised by National Specialist Register of Malaysia.

Candidates are expected to have a good academic record with a PhD degree in health sciences/medicine and preferably with MBBS. Teaching experience and strong research tracks will be an added advantage.

• A Doctoral degree (PhD) in a relevant field from a recognised institution.
• At least 20 years of relevant academic experience in higher education, with a proven track record in senior leadership roles such as Dean, Pro Vice-Chancellor or Deputy Vice-Chancellor.
• Global exposure. Experience in international universities and knowledge of global standards for academic excellence.
• Strong leadership capabilities with experience in academic governance, strategic planning, and operational management of academic affairs.
• In-depth knowledge of the global higher education system, national and international academic accreditation standards, and quality assurance processes.
• A demonstrated commitment to research excellence and scholarly activity.
• Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with diverse stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and external partners.

• Teach and develop courses within the Master of Counselling program.
• Engage in scholarly research and contribute to publications in peer-reviewed journals.
• Supervise and mentor students in their academic and professional development.
• Participate in academic administration, including curriculum development and committee work.
• Secure research grants and manage research funding.
• Lead academic projects or research teams.

• A Ph.D. in any field, including Counselling, combined with a Master’s degree in Counselling or Counselling Psychology.
• A Bachelor’s degree in Counselling is required.
• Must be a registered counsellor under Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia (LKM).
• A minimum of 5 years of teaching experience.
• Demonstrated record of 5-10 publications in indexed journals.
• Experience in providing clinical supervision to trainee counsellors or counsellors, and training in clinical supervision.
• Experience in leading academic projects or research teams.
• Experience in mentoring and supervising students.
• Experience in securing research grants and managing research funding.
• Experience with academic administration, including curriculum development and committee involvement.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
