Junior Executive, Counsellor – Student Experience & Learning Support (AMU)

Job Overview:
A Counselor is required in university to provide support and guidance to students in the education setting. The counselor must be able to help students solve problems, addressing personal and relationship issues, dealing with inner conflicts, and crisis moments such as depression and addiction, in an attempt to empower individuals to achieve change and improve their quality of life. The counselor must also motivate students to improve academically.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Conduct counseling sessions for students (Main campus & branch).
2. Disseminate information to students & alumni regarding career via Google Drive/alumni Facebook/alumni Telegram.
3. Serve as Student Representative Council advisor.
4. Oversee all student activities except sports and Islamic activities.
5. Lead student clubs except sports.
6. Take charge of orientation for new students regarding medical assistance (physical and emotional problems) on campus.
7. Check student complaints and suggestions via Google Form/suggestion box and prepare reports.
8. Monitor peer support activities and reports.
9. Take minutes of meetings and prepare reports.
10. Prepare and compile monthly activity reports.
11. Handle SELS social media (Instagram, Facebook, Telegram) and ensure student handbook is up to date, liaising with all departments for updates.

1. Degree in Counselling. License in Counselling by Lembaga Kaunselor Malaysia.
2. At least 1 to 2 years’ experience in counselling services.

1. Knowledge and understanding of counselling principles, methods, and techniques.
2. Ability to listen attentively and comprehend with empathy and understanding, without prejudice or judgement.
3. Good written and spoken communication skills, especially able to inform and advise others clearly.
4. Good initiative and hardworking.
5. People-centered and friendly.
6. Team player.
7. Able to lead, grow, and nurture a team.
