As the IT focal point for all War Child London‑based colleagues and external UK IT suppliers you will ensure smooth daily operations and a secure reliable IT setup.

Alongside local responsibilities you will support the improvement and management of War Childs global Microsoft technology environment – including Entra ID, SharePoint, Intune, Azure, Teams and OneDrive – working closely with IT colleagues to strengthen and secure our Microsoft 365 ecosystem.

This role sits within the IT Team in the Finance IT and Risk Management Department reporting to the Global Head of IT with a dotted‑line reporting relationship to the War Child UK Director of Finance and IT. You will also collaborate closely with your counterpart in the Netherlands who supports our Amsterdam office.

What you will do
  • Provide office support
  • Deliver 1st and 2nd line support for all IT‑related questions, incidents and requests from London office users regarding hardware, software, peripherals and infrastructure.
  • Log and prioritise user issues, requests and queries; resolve them independently or escalates to third parties as needed.
  • Provide guidance and instruction to users on the effective use of standard software and organisation‑specific applications.
  • Act as primary administrator for designated Microsoft technologies ensuring effective maintenance, optimisation, process improvement and documentation.
  • Act as secondary support for Microsoft technologies managed by other IT team members.
  • Deliver 1st and 2nd line support to global users for all issues and requests related to assigned Microsoft technologies.
  • Log, prioritise and resolve user incidents and service requests, escalating when appropriate.
  • Provide training and user support on the proper use of Microsoft tools and organisation‑specific systems.
  • Identify and address structural issues in IT infrastructure, proposing and implementing improvements independently with the IT Team or in collaboration with external suppliers.
  • Assess and report user needs for information systems and digital tools.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with IT procedures including those for security authorisation and acceptable use.
  • Contribute to defining and maintaining minimum IT and security standards, ensuring these are clearly communicated to IT staff.
  • Identify opportunities to enhance IT processes and workflows and participate in implementing improvements.
  • Initiate and collaborate on IC improvement projects with IT colleagues and external vendors.

  • Monitor system performance continuity and adherence to IT security standards.
  • Manage user accounts and access for global War Child staff.
  • Support the procurement and lifecycle management of IT hardware, software and services.
  • Monitor and respond to security alerts and incidents, ensuring timely resolution and documentation.
  • Provide holiday cover, delivering cover for the equivalent IT role based in the Netherlands supporting the Amsterdam office during periods of absence or leave.
