Position Overview:
As an IT Field Support Technician, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining our organization's Cloud and on-premise infrastructure. Your expertise will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, security, and scalability of our IT infrastructure. This position requires a deep understanding of network and server protocols, technologies, and best practices, as well as strong problem-solving and communication skills.
5 days a week at our UK offices, split between city of London & Greenford, with occasional travel to our Netherlands office.
Salary £55-65k
What you’ll do as the IT Field Support Technician
Responsibilities:
- IT infrastructure Implementation:
- Plan and coordinate the implementation of scalable and robust infrastructure to support our organization's needs. Must have knowledge and experience with Windows and UNIX/Linux operating systems, storage area networks, VMWare, BGP, SD-WAN/Express Route, Routing, Private Link, Peering, vNET/Subnetting, Meraki International and Guest networks.
- Evaluate and recommend infrastructure hardware, software, and protocols to optimize performance and ensure high availability.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and develop infrastructure solutions aligned with business objectives.
- Deploy and/or coordinate the deployment of infrastructure hardware, including servers, storage arrays, switches, and printer related hardware. Must have knowledge and experience with VMWare, Logging, ACL, VPN and Windows/UNIX/Linux configuration and troubleshooting.
- Conduct infrastructure equipment installations, upgrades, and firmware patches to maintain optimal performance and security.
- Update or deploy monitoring, backup and alerting solutions.
- Collaborate with the broader Zones Digital team to ensure smooth integration of IT infrastructure changes and minimize disruptions.
- IT Infrastructure Monitoring and Troubleshooting:
- Proactively monitor IT infrastructure performance, availability, and security to identify and resolve potential issues.
- Investigate and troubleshoot complex IT infrastructure problems, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective solutions.
- Develop and maintain IT infrastructure documentation, including diagrams, configurations, and standard operating procedures.
- IT Infrastructure Security:
- Implement and maintain IT infrastructure security measures, including firewalls, intrusion detection/prevention systems, VPNs, and access controls. Must have knowledge and experience with ASA, FTD standalone, FMC/CDO, IPS, and VPN.
- Conduct regular security assessments, vulnerability scanning, and penetration testing to identify and address potential risks.
- Stay updated with the latest industry trends and best practices in IT infrastructure security and implement appropriate measures to safeguard the IT infrastructure.
- IT Desktop Support:
- Answer incoming calls to provide first call resolution.
- Respond to requests for technical assistance in person, phone, chat, or email.
- Diagnose and resolve technical hardware and software issues.
- Research questions using available information resources.
- Advise user on appropriate action.
- Follow standard help desk procedures.
- Log all help desk interactions.
- Follow up with customers and users to ensure complete resolution of issues.
- Identify and escalate situations requiring urgent attention.
- Track and route problems and requests and document resolutions.
- Resolve technical problems with Local Area Networks and Wide Area networks.
- Inform management of recurring problems.
- Stay current with system information, changes, and updates.
- Clean up computers.
- Collaboration and Leadership:
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including system administrators, developers, and security specialists, to ensure seamless operation and integration of IT infrastructure systems.
- Act as a subject matter expert, participating in technical discussions, proposing innovative solutions, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field. Relevant certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE) are highly desirable.
- Proven experience as an IT infrastructure Engineer or similar role, with a minimum of 5 years implementing, and troubleshooting enterprise-level IT infrastructure.
- Deep knowledge of IT infrastructure operating systems and virtualization solutions.
- Hands-on experience with IT infrastructure hardware and software, such as Dell, HP, Cisco, and EMC.
