SummaryA world-leading engineering company like the NCC needs a world-leading IT project management team to keep the cogs turning! As an IT Project Manager at NCC, you'll have responsibility for the delivery of a range of IT technology projects including infrastructure, software, cloud migration, security & networking from the IT programme portfolios. Utilising the NCC IT project methodologies, you'll ensure that projects are delivered to time, cost, and quality whilst meeting the project sponsors' expectations in terms of project objectives, requirements vs. project deliverables and goals, ensuring the desired benefits will be delivered.
You may also provide project support to other business projects and programmes as an IT workstream for the delivery of new capability, business improvement, strategic change, or a customer project as required.
We use a waterfall method of project delivery and you would initially focus on infrastructure & cloud-based projects.
Key responsibilities:- Managing the entire project lifecycle, from initial planning and resource allocation to build, test, delivery and handover to post-implementation support.
- Working closely with project sponsors, senior IT managers, and various cross-functional teams to ensure that all projects are executed efficiently and effectively.
- Interacting with colleagues across the NCC to understand their requirements, as well as suppliers, ensuring they meet project requirements and deliver on time.
- To manage small, medium, and large projects from the IT Portfolios through the lifecycle ensuring PID creation and approval, documented and approved requirements, HLD approved by the ARB, project planning, CARDI management, cost control and management, change control and impact assessment, test strategy, LLD documentation and service introduction and transition.
- Project governance activities.
- Stakeholder management both internal and potentially with 3rd parties.
- Developing and maintaining a detailed project plan and stakeholder communications plan.
- Project resourcing & recruitment.
- Ensuring requirements are captured, documented, and approved.
- Data & system security - Within the project lifecycle ensure that the highest levels of IT security and Information Security are maintained in order to protect the integrity of all NCC data, particularly that relating to personal data or high-value Intellectual Property.
- Managing project scope and change control and escalating impacts to timelines and budgets to the Project Sponsor, Senior IT Project Manager and/or IT Programme Manager.
- Monitoring project progress and performance and reporting status weekly to agreed stakeholders, including liaison with, and updates on progress to, Project Steering Board/Senior Management.
- Managing & tracking project finances, raising PORFs for purchasing, ensuring budget spend stays in the agreed parameters, escalating potential overspend and further budget needs to the Project Sponsor, Senior IT Project Manager and/or IT Programme Manager.
So, what are we looking for in your application?Specific experience we will look for in your CV would include:- Experience working as a mid-level project manager within IT, with a solid track record in managing diverse IT, infrastructure, and cloud projects within a matrix organisation.
- Project Management qualifications such as APM or PRINCE2 along with practical experience in these methodologies and familiarity with ITIL practices.
- Good RAID, planning, finance & stakeholder management skills. Ability to work autonomously, prioritise effectively, and handle competing deadlines in a busy environment.
- Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills, with proven experience in customer engagement and supplier management.
In terms of personal qualities, we look for:The ability to communicate effectively with a wide variety of people via virtual meetings, in writing and face to face; good organisation skills, problem-solving skills, and attention to detail.
