- Prison Security: Deploying counter-UAS systems across North America, scaling them into legacy systems across multiple agency locations to address security threats effectively.
- Urban Traffic Management: Collaborating with cities in Ontario and Texas, to deliver real-time analytics for smarter urban planning and traffic management, from the ground to the sky.
- Government Collaboration: Partnering with the Governments to develop and test AI models for deployment in challenging remote environments.

About the Role
The Director of Engineering will be responsible for scaling AirMatrix’s engineering and design teams efficiently and effectively. Based in Miami and Toronto, this in-person role is for someone who thrives in fast-paced, dynamic environments and has prior experience building high-performing teams in high-growth organizations. You’ll lead the charge in refining our technology stack, managing critical projects, and ensuring smooth deployment of our AI-powered solutions.

Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Lead the engineering team with a focus on delivering innovative solutions while building trust and confidence with shareholders, team members, and customers.
- Stakeholder Communication: Provide regular updates to relevant stakeholders on technical progress, forecasts, and delivery timelines. Translate complex technical details into clear, actionable insights for non-technical audiences.
- Customer Engagement: Engage with customers to understand their technical requirements, address pain points, and improve existing solutions.
- Technical Public Relations: Create and deliver technical press releases to showcase the company’s technological advancements and attract top talent.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with the sales team and founders to understand priorities and align technical efforts with strategic goals.
- Testing and Benchmarking: Implement robust testing processes to benchmark solutions and ensure reliability, scalability, and performance standards are met.
- Product Delivery: Ensure all projects are delivered on time, meeting or exceeding customer expectations in terms of quality and performance.

- Strategic Thinking: Ability to prioritize tasks, balancing immediate needs with long-term scalability and growth.
- Agile Methodologies: Familiarity with Agile development practices, including sprint planning, backlog management, and delivering results under tight deadlines.
- Problem-Solving: Analytical mindset with the ability to identify and resolve technical and organizational challenges effectively.
Technical Skills
- System Architecture: Possesses a deep understanding of scalable, distributed systems for real-time data and AI processing, with the ability to guide architectural decisions that align with business goals. Experienced in recruiting and leading high-performing teams to execute complex system designs efficiently and effectively.
- Cloud Strategy and Deployment: Able to assess and decide when to leverage cloud solutions versus on-premise infrastructure based on scalability, performance, and cost considerations.
- System Testing and Quality Assurance: Expertise in developing and executing rigorous system testing frameworks to validate performance, scalability, and reliability in diverse operational scenarios.
- Data Integration: Experienced in integrating video feeds, IoT sensors, and other real-time data sources, with a strong understanding of the challenges involved and the ability to develop effective solutions to address them.
- Optimization Skills: Demonstrated ability to optimize AI models for low-latency processing on edge devices and resource-constrained environments.
- Edge Computing: Proficiency in deploying AI solutions on edge hardware to achieve high reliability and minimal latency.
- Technical Documentation: Skilled in producing comprehensive technical documentation for internal teams and external stakeholders.
