Permanent (35hrs)
We are looking for an enthusiastic and experienced Phlebotomist to step up into the role of a Senior Phlebotomist at University Hospitals of Liverpool Group.
This is an interesting and highly skilled post, requiring the ability to work under pressure, delegate tasks, rota management and sickness monitoring. The individual will also have an opportunity to provide training in venepuncture. The successful candidate will be the first port of call for both patients and staff with queries, comments, and complaints, escalating to the line manager when required.
You will work closely with the line manager to ensure all sites are covered during operating hours, and some cross site cover will be required as part of training and service delivery needs. You will also be expected to perform weekly stock takes and order any required stock. Good computer skills, excellent communication skills and interpersonal skills will be expected.
You will report directly to the Phlebotomy Services Manager, escalating any issues as required. To help facilitate your own training and development, it will be expected that you attend any Trust training courses deemed appropriate to your job role.
As a senior Phlebotomist, you will look after the day to day running of services across multiple sites and ward services, ensuring all areas are staffed adequately, approving/denying annual leave as it is requested, and monitoring sickness. You will be expected to perform return to work discussions with those returning off sick, and escalating any sickness queries, or stages to your line manager.
You will be responsible for creating and maintaining rotas across both sites and for our ward service, including break allocation. Rotas are managed through Roster so a level of computer competency is essential.
Senior Phlebotomists are expected to have a high skill level in venepuncture, assisting colleagues with more challenging bleeds and will be able to provide further training to staff from around the Trust. It is expected that Senior Phlebotomists will provide cover for Phlebotomy Services wherever the delivery need is required.
You will be required to monitor training and development in the department, ensuring all staff are given adequate off-rota time to complete any outstanding mandatory training. There is an expectation that you will be able to help them with this.
As a Senior Phlebotomist, you will work alongside your colleagues across all areas where Phlebotomy support is provided, performing venepuncture, offering support and help to colleagues and patients, taking questions and queries and directing as necessary.
