Our philosophy is “to be great you need to have great people”. Accordingly, we are always searching for “great people”. If you thrive in a dynamic, entrepreneurial workplace we would be very interested in hearing from you.
A Day in YOUR Life as a Maintenance Manager
Every person that enters our hotel should be greeted and feel like a guest! This is YOU on your first day of work and every work day after that. You walk in with a smile, say hello to passing guests and acknowledge your colleagues perhaps with a smile, nod or salutation. You already have a feel for how your day is going to unfold based on the flow and noise level in the lobby and you aren’t even working yet! You make your way to the back of house, transform into your sharp, functional and professional uniform and energetically join your teammates in the Maintenance Department.
Regardless of the time of day or length of shift you are ready to meet every guest with exceptional service and care!
As the Maintenance Manager you are responsible for the Maintenance of the entire property and you appreciate how valuable our guests are. In the morning, you focus immediately on any urgent maintenance requests that were placed from the previous night. You understand and appreciate that even the smallest inconvenience can negatively impact a guest’s experience at the hotel. A running toilet, dripping faucet or a finicky door lock all have the ability to create a poor guest experience, a poor guest review and in turn cause future guests to reconsider making a reservation with us. This is why guest maintenance requests take priority over everything. These requests will continue to roll in throughout the day and it is essential that you and your teammates handle them all professionally and with service at the forefront of your mind.
As the day progresses and all guest requests continue to be taken care of, your focus may shift to preventative maintenance projects. These projects are equally important as they protect our assets and ensure all areas of the hotel, including guest rooms, public areas, back of house and all mechanical and equipment areas and assets are all looking and functioning properly. Your teammates rely on you to provide guidance when it comes to prioritizing these projects and WE rely on you to set high standards for finishing work and completion dates. Your eyes are always open and looking for opportunities that need addressing and you have safety at the forefront of your mind. The ever changing projects keep you energized and focused. One day you may be painting ceilings and trim, the next day they could be repairing some tile, furniture, drywall, wall vinyl or plumbing. You could even be called upon to assist with a major emergency repair requiring water shutdown and a quick turn around to minimize guest impact. Whatever it is, you’re ready for the challenge. In order to complete this work effectively, it is essential that your department is stocked with items frequently used, like light bulbs, toilet and faucet parts and paint. Finding great suppliers with flexible terms, great service and preferred pricing will allow you to keep your department organized and efficient. You understand that the physical property and all mechanical items required to keep the hotel running smoothly, are your responsibility. You create daily, weekly, monthly and yearly checklist that ensure you do not miss any important timelines. By the time you leave for the day, you are more than satisfied that our guests are all taken care of and the hotel is in good working order.
