About The TeamThe Packaging Design Group is powered by a large, dynamic and multiskilled team of creatives. This Group lives and breathes packaging design in all its expressions and outputs, from printed packaging to digital eCommerce. They work across a range of clients, brands and categories – from beauty to food and coffee to spirits. The team is uniquely constructed to deliver solutions that range from packaging design refreshes and redesigns, to new product innovations, category and line extensions. This powerhouse group manages every scale of a project from one-off “gotta have it” new editions to some of the Globe’s most iconic and large scale private brand programs.
About The RoleThe Associate Designer is responsible for contributing to creative concepts from project initiation through the completion of final product. An eternal learner – they are excited to immerse themselves in all things design: branding, packaging, and beyond. A self-starter – they are able to work independently with direction or collaboratively within a team. They are fully engaged and support their team in the execution of ideas across a range of styles. Their passion and enthusiasm for design is infectious. The Associate Designer is detail oriented and ensures their work is accurate and delivers against the client brief.
This role specializes in packaging design, ranging across an exciting spectrum of industries, including CPG food and beverage, spirits & beer, health, personal care, retail, and more.
Responsibilities- Supporting Senior members of the team in the execution of client briefs into successful and effective concepts which exceed client expectations
- Assisting with competitive audits and building case studies
- Attending team brainstorming sessions and assisting with the building of mood boards
- Design system problem-solving and concept execution
- Building presentation decks which showcase our work and ensuring its accuracy
- Presenting your work internally with the confidence that comes from knowing that you have done all that you can
- Apprenticing in Creative and Adaptive projects alike (big and small)
- Thriving in the demands of pressing deadlines and confidently managing multiple priorities
- Playing an active role in supporting both your immediate colleagues and those across the agency
- Taking personal responsibility and guardianship for your projects – ensuring accurate, consistent, and timely completion of high quality work
- Supporting the team across projects with a range of complexities
- Maintaining a positive and open dialogue with team members so they are fully informed throughout the project life-cycle
- Being an active participant in agency life and getting involved with internal initiatives
Prerequisites- Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or related field
- 0-2+ years of experience in packaging and/or brand design
- Expert fluency in design software, especially Adobe Creative Cloud, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign
- Well-rounded portfolio showcasing excellent understanding of typography, photography, illustration, presentation skills, sketching and design methodology
- Computer literacy, including familiarity with both iOS and Windows; fluency in Keynote, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
