Job description

Our clients located in New Brunswick and Northern Ontario have an immediate opening for a Mechanical Engineer.

Pulp Mill or Sawmill experience is a definite asset.

Responsibilities
  1. Support the Maintenance & Operational teams to increase mill reliability, minimize cost, troubleshoot and resolve repetitive maintenance failures to improve efficiency;
  2. Liaise with consultants and vendors on technical aspects of issues;
  3. Develop, communicate and implement maintenance procedures and troubleshooting guidelines to support consistency and efficiency;
  4. Support the implementation and execution of a preventative and predictive maintenance program;
  5. Participate in shutdown coordination in support of Maintenance Planners and Mechanical Supervisors;
  6. Creation of CPA’s (Capital Project Authorization) and RPA’s (Repair Project Authorization) for budget approval;
  7. Estimate, scope and execute major maintenance and capital projects;
  8. Develop detailed schedules and perform construction management role during project execution;
  9. Manage multiple projects at any one time;
  10. Lead or participate in root cause problem elimination sessions on failed equipment;
  11. Lead change and continuous improvement using Lean Six Sigma tools;
  12. Assist Maintenance staff coverage as a fill-in planner or supervisor as required.
Qualifications
  1. Post-secondary degree in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering;
  2. May consider certification in Mechanical Technology or equivalent;
  3. 2-5 years’ experience in a similar role or industry;
  4. Exceptional organization, decision making and problem solving abilities;
  5. Proficient in Microsoft Office suite including Microsoft Project, Maximo, SAP, PI, and Auto CAD;
  6. Orientation towards maintenance planning and mechanical maintenance systems;
  7. Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability while working in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities;
  8. Strong leadership and communication skills;
  9. Performance management experience;
  10. Kraft/Pulp Mill experience preferred, not essential;
  11. Experience with Maximo, SAP, PI, and Auto CAD considered an asset;
  12. Experience working in a unionized environment considered an asset.
