Job Description: Mechanical Technician - Motors & Compressors (Petrochemicals)
Position Overview: The Mechanical Technician will be responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of motors and compressors in a petrochemical facility. This role ensures optimal performance and reliability of mechanical systems critical to operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform routine maintenance, inspections, and repairs on electric motors and compressors.
- Troubleshoot mechanical issues and implement effective solutions to minimize downtime.
- Conduct testing and adjustments to ensure proper functioning of equipment.
- Collaborate with engineering and operations teams to optimize equipment performance.
- Maintain detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts inventory.
- Adhere to safety protocols and regulations while performing tasks in the facility.
- Assist in the installation and commissioning of new motors and compressor systems.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in mechanical engineering or a related field preferred.
- Proven experience as a mechanical technician, particularly with motors and compressors in an industrial setting.
- Strong understanding of mechanical systems, troubleshooting techniques, and maintenance practices.
- Proficient in using hand tools, diagnostic equipment, and maintenance software.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and handle heavy equipment and tools.

- Test Installations: Perform tests to verify that installed equipment and machinery operate according to specifications and safety standards.
Maintenance and Repairs:
- Routine Maintenance: Perform regular preventive maintenance on mechanical systems and machinery.
- Troubleshooting and Repairs: Diagnose mechanical issues and repair or replace defective parts.
- Lubrication and Adjustments: Ensure that moving parts are properly lubricated and adjust components to prevent wear and tear.
Testing and Inspection:
- System Testing: Test mechanical equipment and systems after installation, repair, or maintenance.
- Inspect Mechanical Parts: Perform visual and mechanical inspections on parts to detect wear, damage, or faults.
Blueprint and Technical Drawing Interpretation:
- Read Technical Documents: Interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Create Reports: Record maintenance activities, repairs, inspections, and parts used.
